Thermodynamic approach for enhancing superconducting critical current performance

Masashi Miura et al.

Summary: The addition of artificial pinning centers has greatly increased the critical current density of superconductors, allowing for breakthroughs in all-superconducting magnets and other applications. By modifying certain parameters such as carrier density and chemical pressure, the critical current density can be further enhanced.

Effects of Energetic Carbon-Cluster Ion Irradiation on Lattice Structures of EuBa2Cu3O7-x Oxide Superconductor

Akihiro Iwase et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of carbon cluster ions with different sizes on EuBa2Cu3O7-x oxide films. The results showed that larger cluster ions induced larger and more inhomogeneous lattice disordering, leading to a decrease in peak intensity and an increase in peak width.

Enhancement in the critical current density of BaTiO3-doped YBCO films by low-energy (60 keV) proton irradiation

Daxing Huang et al.

Summary: Low-energy proton irradiation was used to introduce smaller, weaker, but denser pinning sites into YBCO films, forming a mixed-pinning landscape with pre-doped BTO precipitates to enhance the vortex pinning and increase critical current density. The irradiation dose also affected the c-axis length of YBCO, leading to reduced oxygen content and critical transition temperature. This fabrication technique is a practical post-production solution to improve the in-field performance of nanoparticle-doped YBCO films.

Ultra-fast growth of cuprate superconducting films: Dual-phase liquid assisted epitaxy and strong flux pinning

Yue Wu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the ultra-high growth rate of dual-phase cuprate superconducting film and its impact on performance and behavior under magnetic fields. By investigating the epitaxial growth mechanism and defect structure, the dominant mechanism of weak J(c) anisotropy is confirmed. The research provides important insights for significantly improving production efficiency of future high temperature superconductors.

Superconducting properties of commercial REBCO-coated conductors with artificial pinning centers

Kiyosumi Tsuchiya et al.

Summary: The research investigates the development and commercialization of rare-earth barium copper oxide coated conductors, as well as the current-carrying capabilities of conductors doped with artificial pinning centers in high magnetic fields. The testing results show that conductors with artificial pinning centers have significantly higher critical current values under perpendicular fields and perform well under high magnetic fields.

Improvement of the value and anisotropy of critical current density in GdBa2Cu3O7-δ coated conductors with self-assembled 3-dimensional BaZrO3 nanostructure

Chandra Shekar Gantepogu et al.

Summary: The GdBa2Cu3O7-x (Gd123) films with self-assembled BaZrO3 (BZO) nanostructure on ion-beam-assisted deposited MgO substrate showed enhanced critical current density JC and flux pinning force (Fp) under high magnetic fields. The addition of a 3D BZO nanostructure network improved the performance of the superconductor coated conductor and could be further optimized for better results.
