Time-Dependent Reliability Analysis Based on Point-Evolution Kernel Density Estimation: Comprehensive Approach with Continuous and Shock Deterioration and Maintenance

Hong-Yuan Guo et al.

Summary: A novel approach for time-dependent reliability analysis based on PKDE method and equivalent extreme performance function is proposed in this study, which can consider various deterioration scenarios and maintenance actions while addressing difficulties in traditional methods such as multiple deteriorations, nonlinear models, and uncertainties. The feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method are demonstrated through an illustrative example, showing its capability to handle progressive deterioration and sudden damages in modeling performance functions.

Time-variant system reliability analysis method for a small failure probability problem

Hua-Ming Qian et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new method for time-variant system reliability analysis by combining multiple response Gaussian process and subset simulation, which reduces the extremal optimization process and improves computational efficiency and accuracy. The Kriging model is used to assist in searching for new sample points, and the subset simulation method is integrated with the MRGP model to handle small failure probability problems.

A single-loop strategy for time-variant system reliability analysis under multiple failure modes

Hua-Ming Qian et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a single-loop strategy for time-variant system reliability analysis, which combines MRGP and Kriging model to simplify the traditional double-loop strategy. By combining various learning functions and EI function to select new sample points, the accuracy of the strategy is further improved.

Nonlinear random vibration analysis: A Bayesian nonparametric approach

Armin Tabandeh et al.

Summary: This study proposes a hybrid method that approximates the governing SDE of nonlinear systems using a small number of response simulations and information available a priori to estimate their response probability distribution. A Bayesian nonparametric approach is employed to capture uncertainties, allowing the number of surrogate linear systems to grow indefinitely to capture new patterns. The quantified uncertainty in the estimates of unknown model parameters propagates into the response probability distribution, and the study shows that the estimated probability distribution can approach the original nonlinear system's response probability distribution under certain conditions.

A density extrapolation approach to estimate failure probabilities

Gaofeng Jia et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel approach called the Density Extrapolation Approach (DEA) for efficient reliability analysis, which combines Subset Simulation (SS) and density estimation to establish a smooth estimation of the target distribution in the tail regions. Results from illustrative examples validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Importance Sampling for Time-Variant Reliability Analysis

Jian Wang et al.

Summary: Importance sampling methods are widely used in time-independent reliability analysis, but have been rarely studied in time-variant reliability analysis. This article presents a method for time-variant reliability analysis that increases the probability of sampling failure trajectories. Validation results show that this method significantly improves sampling efficiency and accuracy compared to crude Monte Carlo simulation.
