Early detection of freezing damage in oranges by online Vis/NIR transmission coupled with diameter correction method and deep 1D-CNN

Shijie Tian et al.

Summary: Realizing online detection of early freezing damage of citrus fruits is meaningful and profitable. By introducing a diameter correction method (DCM) and utilizing a one-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (1D-CNN), the effect of fruit size on detection accuracy can be effectively eliminated, leading to improved identification of early freezing damage.

Identification of the geographic origin of peaches by VIS-NIR spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and image processing technology

Qinyi Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, the feasibility of distinguishing the geographic origin of four traditional famous peaches in China was explored using visible-near infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and image processing technology. The support vector machine models showed the highest classification accuracy, some reaching 100%. Decision tree analysis identified the most relevant factors related to the geographic origin. The study found that the combination of visible-near infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and image processing technology could effectively distinguish the geographic origin of peaches.

Modelling and mapping of soil erosion susceptibility using machine learning in a tropical hot sub-humid environment

Rakhohori Bag et al.

Summary: This study identifies soil erosion susceptible zones in the Sobha watershed of West Bengal, India, using machine learning algorithms and remote sensing data. The study reveals that elevation, drainage density, and vegetation index are the main factors contributing to soil erosion. The random forest model performs best in predicting erosion. The findings can guide the implementation of effective policies to mitigate soil erosion.
