Solvatochromism and estimation of ground and excited state dipole moments of 6-aminoquinoline

Nupur Pandey et al.

Summary: The study investigated the spectral behavior of 6AQ in different solvents, showing solvatochromism with increasing Stokes shift and a more polar excited state possibly due to a change in geometry and involvement of pi -> pi* transition. The dipole moments of the ground state and excited state were determined, with the excited state having a higher dipole moment possibly due to intramolecular charge transfer. The molecule exhibited reasonable band-gap energy and good blue CIE coordinates, suggesting potential applications in optoelectronics.

Push-Pull Derivatives Based on 2,4′-Biphenylene Linker with Quinoxaline, [1,2,5]Oxadiazolo[3,4-B]Pyrazine and [1,2,5]Thiadiazolo[3,4-B]Pyrazine Electron Withdrawing Parts

Egor V. Verbitskiy et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of novel V-shaped derivatives were designed and investigated for their electrochemical, photophysical and nonlinear optical properties. The [1,2,5]oxadiazolo[3,4-b]pyrazine fragment was found to be a strong electron-withdrawing group. All compounds exhibited emissions in the solid state, while only the quinoxaline derivatives emitted in a DCM solution. The quinoxaline derivatives demonstrated solvatochromism and extra-large Stokes shifts, indicating twisted intramolecular charge transfer excited states and aggregation induced emission.

Competitive ICT in asymmetric D-A Scaffolds showing visible solvatochromism, temperature-induced emission enhancement and AIE based acidochromism

Ashish Kumar Kushwaha et al.

Summary: Meticulous attention to details of intramolecular charge transfer has led to the design of donor-acceptor fluorophores with multichromic behavior. Three asymmetric fluorophores with A'-D-A-D-A' and D'-D-A-D-D' scaffolds were reported, showing naked-eye solvatochromism even under daylight, indicating effective charge separation. The photophysical behavior demonstrated varying levels of twisted intramolecular charge transfer due to asymmetry.

Enol or keto? Interplay between solvents and substituents as a factor controlling ESIPT

Nikita A. Shekhovtsov et al.

Summary: The emission properties associated with excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) of a series of ESIPT-fluorophores were theoretically studied in solution and the solid state. The interplay of solvent and halogen atoms were found to control the photophysics and photochemistry of the ESIPT-fluorophores. ESIPT and emission from the keto form were observed in solution under specific conditions, while in the solid state, ESIPT and emission from the keto form were barrierless. Twisted intramolecular charge transfer state (TICT) coupled with ESIPT was found to be unfavorable in this study. The photoluminescence quantum yields of the ESIPT-fluorophores were moderate to high.

ICT based photoacid probe for microsolvation and H-bonding assisted proton transfer process from solute to solvents

Arivalagan Shabashini et al.

Summary: This study recognizes 2-(3,4-Dihydroxybenzylidene)malononitrile (Hy34DC) as a photoacid and intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) probe for investigating the proton transfer process from solute to solvent. Microsolvation and intermolecular H-bonding interactions play a significant role in enhancing the proton transfer process. The study also reveals solvent-specific dual fluorescence properties of Hy34DC in solution.

Shuwei Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel fluorescent probe based on indanone was developed for effective detection of Cys and Hcy. The probe showed weak fluorescence but exhibited obvious enhancement when reacted with Cys/Hcy. It demonstrated good anti-interference and low cytotoxicity, making it suitable for monitoring Cys and Hcy in living cells.

Synthesis and investigation of photophysical, NLO and thermal properties of D-π-A-π-D dyes

Arda Ozarslan et al.

Summary: A novel coumarin-thiophene based dyes with D-pi-A-pi-D system were synthesized and characterized through their photophysical, nonlinear optical (NLO) and thermal properties. The compounds showed significant bathochromic shifts in absorption maxima with increasing electron-donating properties of substituents. The compounds bearing dialkylamino donor in phenyl moiety exhibited larger mu beta values in NLO responses compared to unsubstituted derivatives in phenyl ring. Moreover, structural and electronic properties as well as NLO properties of the compounds were studied using DFT calculation.
