Jasmonic acid-mediated enhanced regulation of oxidative, glyoxalase defense system and reduced chromium uptake contributes to alleviation of chromium (VI) toxicity in choysum (Brassica parachinensis L.)

Muhammad Kamran et al.

Summary: The study investigated the potential role of exogenous jasmonic acid in mitigating chromium toxicity in leafy vegetables grown on metal contaminated soil. The results showed that jasmonic acid helped restore plant growth and physio-biochemical attributes by enhancing the regulation of antioxidant enzymes, ascorbate, glutathione, and glyoxalase system enzymes to suppress oxidative and carbonyl stress.

Chromium retention potential of two contrasting Solanum lycopersicum Mill. cultivars as deciphered by altered pH dynamics, growth, and organic acid exudation under Cr stress

Muhammad Tariq Javed et al.

Summary: This study focused on the impact of chromium on the accumulation potential of two tomato cultivars through changes in rhizospheric pH and organic acid exudation. The results showed that increased Cr levels led to enhanced Cr accumulation in both cultivars, with a reduction in growth and nutrient acquisition. Additionally, one cultivar exhibited higher organic acid exudations, resulting in better retention of nutrients and Cr.

Effects of nitrogen fertilization on the growth and on photochemical efficiency in plants of Handroanthus heptaphyllus

Alvaro Luis Pasquetti Berghetti et al.

Summary: The study showed that adding nitrogen fertilizer after planting can enhance the growth and physiological responses of Handroanthus heptaphyllus, improving the nutrient status and photosynthetic efficiency of the plants. According to the findings, the optimal nitrogen fertilizer application method is to add 35% of the nitrogen fertilizer in small holes at planting, divided into three applications, which significantly increases plant growth performance after 18 months.

Antioxidant enzyme activity in germination of Dalbergia spruceana seeds under different temperatures

Clenes Cunha Lima et al.

Summary: Temperature affects germination of Dalbergia spruceana Benth. seeds, with higher germination percentage and speed at 25 and 35 degrees C, and lower at 20 and 40 degrees C. Antioxidant enzyme activity is not significantly impacted by temperature, showing potential as an indicator of heat stress tolerance.
