Optimization Design of Resonance Coils With High Misalignment Tolerance for Drone Wireless Charging Based on Genetic Algorithm

Cancan Rong et al.

Summary: This article discusses the misalignment problem between the transmitting and receiving coils in a drone charging system using wireless power transfer technology. It presents detailed optimization processes for the coupling mechanism, including using unequally spaced Tx coils and a genetic algorithm to optimize the side lengths of the coils. The article also proposes a Rx coil with varying radius size per turn based on the distribution of magnetic field generated by the optimized Tx coil. The experimental results show significant improvement in power transfer efficiency compared to traditional coils.

Mobile sensor for clouds shadow detection and direct normal irradiance estimation

Jose M. Aguilar-Lopez et al.

Summary: This paper presents a mobile sensor system that uses a team of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to localize and characterize the shadow of mobile clouds for detecting and estimating low direct normal irradiance (DNI) areas caused by clouds shadows. The simulations show that the algorithm used in this system achieves a similar degree of precision in estimating the shape of the cloud shadow, but with a much faster computational time compared to other algorithms described in literature.

A Multichannel Wireless UAV Charging System With Compact Receivers for Improving Transmission Stability and Capacity

Changsong Cai et al.

Summary: This article presents a multichannel wireless rotary-wing UAV charging system with compact receivers to improve transmission stability and capacity. It proposes a multichannel scheme and landing structure to meet application challenges, with multiple null-cross-coupled transmission paths to enhance charging capability. The design includes compact and shielding-free receivers to avoid airflow interference and weight issues, along with misalignment-tolerant unipolar coils for efficient coupling and reduced leakage flux. The system's output characteristics are analyzed through theoretical modeling and simulation, with a control strategy implemented to regulate output currents and eliminate circulating currents without real-time communication or measuring on board. A multichannel experimental prototype is tested to demonstrate feasibility for flexible autonomous charging of rotary-wing UAVs.
