In-situ monitored chemical bath deposition of planar NiOx layer for inverted perovskite solar cell with enhanced efficiency

Liqi Li et al.

Summary: The study presents a convenient and scalable solution route, chemical bath deposition (CBD), for fabricating efficient hole transport layer, planar NiOx film, for inverted perovskite solar cells (IPSCs). The CBD process allows adjustment of the film properties by varying the cation concentration, resulting in enhanced charge transport efficiency and improved efficiency of the solar cells from 16.14% to 18.17%.

Multifunctional Hybrid Interfacial Layers for High-Performance Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells

Benfang Niu et al.

Summary: A simple and scalable interfacial strategy is reported to facilitate the assembly of high-performance inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and scale-up modules. This strategy improves the chemical stability, charge extraction, and energy level alignment of the hole-selective interface, while promoting perovskite crystallization. As a result, the corresponding inverted PSCs and modules achieve remarkable power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 24.5% and 20.7% (aperture area of 19.4 cm(2)), respectively. This strategy is also effective for perovskite with various bandgaps, demonstrating the highest PCE of 19.6% for the 1.76-eV bandgap PSCs.

Reducing nonradiative recombination in perovskite solar cells with a porous insulator contact

Wei Peng et al.

Summary: Inserting an ultrathin low-conductivity interlayer between the absorber and transport layer is an effective strategy for improving the efficiency of perovskite solar cells. However, there is a trade-off between the open-circuit voltage and fill factor. In this study, the challenge was overcome by introducing a thick insulator layer with random nanoscale openings. With this approach, an efficiency of up to 25.5% was achieved, along with reduced surface recombination and improved perovskite crystallinity.

Monolithic perovskite/organic tandem solar cells with 23.6% efficiency enabled by reduced voltage losses and optimized interconnecting layer

Wei Chen et al.

Summary: Perovskite/organic tandem solar cells have a promising future in thin-film photovoltaics due to the large chemical composition and tunability of their bandgap. However, their efficiency is currently limited by the open-circuit voltage loss and non-ideal interconnecting layers. In this study, the passivation of nickel oxide hole-transporting layers and the development of an optimized interconnecting layer structure led to a significant increase in efficiency, reaching a maximum of 23.60% (22.95% certified) in perovskite/organic tandem solar cells.

24.8%-efficient planar perovskite solar cells via ligand-engineered TiO2 deposition

Hao Huang et al.

Summary: In this research, a ligand-engineered deposition strategy was proposed to improve the performance of planar perovskite solar cells. By using tartaric acid as the ligand, particle aggregation was effectively inhibited, and the interfacial contact impedance was reduced while the electron extraction was enhanced. The obtained PCE of 24.8% with a fill factor exceeding 0.83 is the highest reported among TiO2-based planar PSCs so far.
