Single GaP nanowire nonlinear characterization with the aid of an optical trap

Alexey D. Bolshakov et al.

Summary: The study investigates the linear and nonlinear waveguiding optical properties of single GaP nanowires, demonstrating efficient second harmonic generation and unveiling phase matching conditions, which opens a new avenue for the generation of optoelectronic origami-type devices by picking up and accurately positioning pre-tested structures with optomechanical manipulation.

Anisotropic Radiation in Heterostructured Emitter in a Cavity Nanowire

Alexey Kuznetsov et al.

Summary: Tailorable synthesis of axially heterostructured epitaxial nanowires allows for the fabrication of novel photonic devices. In this study, the photoluminescence emission in individual heterostructured nanowires was experimentally and theoretically studied. It was found that the high refractive index and near-zero absorption through the emission band enable the coupling of photoluminescence signal into the nanowire cavity, while weak radiation is registered in the vicinity of each nano-sized disc.

Continuous-Wave Second-Harmonic Generation in Orientation-Patterned Gallium Phosphide Waveguides at Telecom Wavelengths

Konstantinos Pantzas et al.

Summary: A new process for producing orientation-patterned gallium phosphide (OPGaP) with almost perfectly parallel domain boundaries is presented. The study demonstrates efficient second-harmonic generation from telecom wavelengths using OPGaP in suspended shallow-ridge waveguides. The results confirm the good uniformity of the poling period and the high conversion efficiency.

Directly grown crystalline gallium phosphide on sapphire for nonlinear all-dielectric nanophotonics

D. Khmelevskaia et al.

Summary: Efficient second harmonic generation in nanophotonic designs demands materials with large values of the quadratic nonlinear susceptibility, low dissipative losses, and high refractive index. Gallium phosphide (GaP) is one of the best materials meeting all these parameters. Developing a method to fabricate high-quality crystalline GaP metasurfaces demonstrates pronounced linear and nonlinear optical properties.

Formation of wurtzite sections in self-catalyzed GaP nanowires by droplet consumption

V. V. Fedorov et al.

Summary: Wurtzite GaP nanowires can be grown on Si substrates without Au catalysts, forming long sections of Wurtzite at 610 degrees C, by abruptly increasing the atomic V/III flux ratio. The optimal growth temperature for Wurtzite nanowires corresponds to the largest diffusion length of Ga adatoms, maintaining the required contact angle for the longest time.
