Crosslinking and functionalization of acellular patches via the self-assembly of copper@tea polyphenol nanoparticles

Qin Li et al.

Summary: This study proposed a green strategy to crosslink and functionalize acellular scaffolds using the self-assembly of copper@tea polyphenol nanoparticles. The resulting nanocomposite acellular scaffolds, named Cu@TP-dBPs, showed comparable biomechanics and biostability to glutaraldehyde crosslinked decellularized bovine pericardias (Glut-dBPs), but also had advantages in terms of anticalcification, remodeling, and integration capabilities. Cu@TP-dBPs also possessed antibacterial and proangiogenic activities, making them promising functional acellular patches for cardiovascular applications.
