What happens when graphdiyne encounters doping for electrochemical energy conversion and storage

Shuning Yu et al.

Summary: Graphdiyne (GDY) is a rising-star two-dimensional carbon allotrope that has been widely used in the field of electro-chemistry due to its unique properties. However, the pure GDY does not achieve optimum performance. The doping of heteroatoms into GDY can regulate its electronic structure and improve its performance. In this review, the preparation methods and various doping elements of heteroatom-doped GDY are introduced, and the electrochemical applications in energy conversion and storage are summarized. The challenges and opportunities of heteroatom-doped GDY are also discussed.

Constructing Synergistic Triazine and Acetylene Cores in Fully Conjugated Covalent Organic Frameworks for Cascade Photocatalytic H2O2 Production

Lipeng Zhai et al.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a suitable template for photocatalytic H2O2 synthesis due to their tunable chemical structures and semiconductor properties. However, the photoactivity of COFs is still suboptimal due to inefficient charge generation, fast recombination of photogenerated charges, and limited electron transport. In this study, triazine and acetylene units were integrated into COFs, leading to efficient charge separation, suppressed charge recombination, and enhanced electron transport. Experimental and computational results demonstrated that triazine and acetylene units synergistically promoted H2O2 synthesis through a two-electron pathway.
