Sliding Cyclodextrin Molecules along Polymer Chains to Enhance the Stretchability of Conductive Composites

Ruichun Du et al.

Summary: A highly stretchable and self-healable conductor is developed by incorporating polyrotaxane and disulfide bonds into the binding layer, enabling a long sensing range. The sliding nature of polyrotaxanes is investigated for the mechanism of energy dissipation in the elastomers. Human-body-related sensing tests and a self-correction system in fitness are designed and demonstrated.

Electrochemical Actuators with Multicolor Changes and Multidirectional Actuation

Yong Ling et al.

Summary: This paper presents a back-to-back structure electrochemical actuator that exhibits high actuation amplitude and multiple color changes. The actuator is fabricated by stacking two membranes with V2O5 nanowires and single-walled carbon nanotubes networks. The dual-responsive processes of the actuation films and actuators are investigated, and it is found that the actuation is highly related to the redox behavior of the V2O5 nanowires layer.

Flexible and high-performance electrochromic devices enabled by self-assembled 2D TiO2/MXene heterostructures

Ran Li et al.

Summary: Transition metal oxides (TMOs) are promising electrochromic (EC) materials for applications such as smart windows and displays, but achieving good flexibility, high coloration efficiency and fast response simultaneously remains a challenge. MXenes and their derived TMOs are good candidates for high-performance and flexible EC devices due to their 2D nature and the possibility of assembling them into loosely networked structures. The authors demonstrate flexible, fast, and high-coloration-efficiency EC devices based on self-assembled 2D TiO2/Ti3C2Tx heterostructures, with the Ti3C2Tx layer as the transparent electrode and the 2D TiO2 layer as the EC layer.
