An Adaptive Phase-Amplitude Reduction Framework without O (ε)Constraints on Inputs*

Dan Wilson

Summary: Phase reduction is a technique used to analyze the timing of oscillations. This study proposes an adaptive phase-amplitude transformation method using the theory of isostable reduction, which does not restrict the allowable input. Numerical illustrations show that the proposed method accurately reflects synchronization and entrainment of coupled oscillators.

Existence and uniqueness of global Koopman eigenfunctions for stable fixed points and periodic orbits

Matthew D. Kvalheim et al.

Summary: This study focuses on dynamical systems with attracting hyperbolic fixed points or periodic orbits, proving the existence and uniqueness of C-k linearizing semiconjugacies. It extends and strengthens Sternberg's linearization theorem, providing new results for Koopman eigenfunctions. The research also discusses principal eigenfunctions and isostable coordinates, showing uniqueness under certain conditions.

Data-driven inference of high-accuracy isostable-based dynamical models in response to external inputs

Dan Wilson

Summary: Isostable reduction is a powerful technique for characterizing nonlinear dynamical systems using slowly decaying eigenfunctions of the Koopman operator. When underlying dynamical equations are known, high-order accuracy computation of isostable reduced models is possible. However, in situations where the dynamical equations are unknown, few general techniques are available to reliably estimate the isostable reduced equations.

Optimal Control of Oscillation Timing and Entrainment Using Large Magnitude Inputs: An Adaptive Phase-Amplitude-Coordinate-Based Approach\ast

Dan Wilson

Summary: This paper presents an adaptive phase-amplitude reduction method to manipulate the timing of oscillation systems, achieving significant advantages in the presence of large-amplitude entraining stimuli. Through data-driven techniques to identify the necessary terms of adaptive phase-amplitude reduction, this paper provides an effective approach in situations where model equations are unreliable or unavailable.

Degenerate isostable reduction for fixed-point and limit-cycle attractors with defective linearizations

Dan Wilson

Summary: The study proposes a degenerate isostable framework for dealing with defective eigenvalues, applicable to various reduced order modeling frameworks. Degenerate isostable coordinates retain important properties while addressing the issue of decay associated with defective eigenvalues that existing methods cannot handle.

Adaptive Isostable Reduction of Nonlinear PDEs With Time Varying Parameters

Dan Wilson et al.

Summary: The study introduces an adaptive isostable coordinate framework that can be applied to a continuous family of system parameters and defines an effective reduction strategy for large magnitude but slowly varying inputs. Numerical simulations show that the proposed reduction strategy requires only one mode to accurately capture system behavior, in contrast to the poor performance of linear and nonlinear POD reduction strategies.
