Carbon consumption and regeneration of oxygen-containing functional groups on activated carbon for flue gas purification

Yuran Li et al.

Summary: The study reveals that carbon consumption in activated carbon technology for flue gas purification primarily originates from the reaction of H2SO4 and C, as well as the thermal decomposition of oxygen-containing functional groups. Interestingly, carbon consumption does not increase as SO2 concentration rises. Additionally, in the cyclic adsorption-regeneration process, carbon consumption is significantly higher in the first cycle due to the decomposition of functional groups within the activated carbon itself.

Strikingly distinctive NH3-SCR behavior over Cu-SSZ-13 in the presence of NO2

Yulong Shan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the inhibition of Cu-SSZ-13 zeolite catalysts in the presence of NO2 is due to the strong oxidation leading to the formation of Cu-II species with low mobility. This distinctive behavior is explained by the higher energy barrier of the SCR reaction occurring at the Cu-II sites compared to the standard SCR reaction on dynamic binuclear sites.

The design of the highly active NH3-SCR catalyst Ce-W/UiO-66: Close coupling of active sites and acidic sites

Fei Wang et al.

Summary: Ce-based catalyst is an important catalyst for NH3-SCR reaction, with Ce3+ playing a crucial role. However, the specific atomic sites for Ce anchoring and the chemical mechanism of Ce3+ formation in CeO2 are not fully understood. This study reveals that UiO-66 has abundant hydroxyl groups on its surface, which serve as anchoring sites for Ce. Additionally, the introduction of highly dispersed acidic sites (WO3) around CeO2 enhances the catalytic activity and stability by tightly coupling the redox and acidic sites.

Microkinetic study of NO oxidation, standard and fast NH3-SCR on CeWOx at low temperatures

Kuo Liu et al.

Summary: A comprehensive microkinetic model was established for NO oxidation, standard SCR and fast SCR on CeWOx at low temperatures, revealing different rate-limiting steps and reaction orders for different reactions. The mechanisms of standard and fast SCR were found to be similar, with the reaction between nitrites and adsorbed NH3 playing a key role in NOx conversion. The activation energy of fast SCR was higher due to the reaction between NO and NH4NO3, but more nitrites and NH4NO3 led to higher activity for fast SCR compared to standard SCR.

Superior Oxidative Dehydrogenation Performance toward NH3 Determines the Excellent Low-Temperature NH3-SCR Activity of Mn-Based Catalysts

Guangzhi He et al.

Summary: This study investigates the atomic-level mechanism and activity-limiting factor in NH3-SCR process over Mn-based oxide catalysts. It reveals that the superior oxidative dehydrogenation performance of Mn-based catalysts towards NH3 reduces energy barriers for NH3 activation, facilitating the formation of key intermediate NH2NO. These findings advance the understanding of Mn-based SCR catalysts and provide a fundamental basis for future generation SCR catalysts with excellent low-temperature activity.
