Direct carbon dioxide-methane solid oxide fuel cells integrated for high-efficiency power generation with La0.75Sr0.25Cr0.5Fe0.4Ni0.1O3-δ-based dry reforming catalyst

Mumin Rao et al.

Summary: This study utilizes a nickel-doped perovskite material to design an exsolution system and evaluate its application as a reforming catalyst in direct carbon dioxide-methane solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Results show that the exsolution system effectively releases alloy nanoparticles from the material through a reducing atmosphere, providing abundant active sites for the reforming reaction. Fuel cells using the LSCFN-GDC composite reforming catalyst achieve peak power densities of 686.05 and 684.83 mW.cm(-2) at 800 degrees C, and the dry reforming of CH4-CO2 is sustained for 100 hours at 700 degrees C. These findings demonstrate that an additional dry reforming catalyst is an effective strategy for manipulating CH4-CO2 reforming and improving electrochemical performance for energy purposes.

Summary: The doping of variable-valence Mn4+/3+2+ on the B site of stable SrTiO3 is explored as both the cathode and the anode for an SSOFC. The additional Pr3+/4+ donor on the Sr site of SrTi0.5Mn0.5O3 enhances the structure stability, electric conductivity, and electrocatalysis. The performance under CH4/H2 fuel can be boosted by loading Ni/ceria onto the anode.

Enhancing the electrocatalytic activity of perovskite electrodes by atomic layer-deposited doped CeO2 for symmetrical solid oxide fuel cells

Wenxuan Li et al.

Summary: Reasonable design of perovskite electrodes via surface engineering is an attractive strategy for advanced symmetrical solid oxide fuel cells (S-SOFCs) to achieve high activity and good durability. This study demonstrates that decorating PrBaMn0.5Fe1.5O5+delta perovskite with uniformly distributed iron doped CeO2 nanoparticles using atomic layer deposition (ALD) enhances both oxygen reduction and fuel oxidation kinetics, resulting in high electrochemical performance.
