Separation of palladium and silver from E-waste leachate: effect of nitric acid concentration on adsorption to Thiol scavenger

Joona Rajahalme et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption of palladium and silver using a silica-based Thiol scavenger from nitric acid leachate of waste printed circuit boards (PCBs). The results show that high adsorption efficiencies were achieved for both Pd(II) and Ag(I), with over 97% adsorption in nitric acid concentrations below 3 mol L-1. The adsorption process followed a pseudo 2nd order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm. Desorption experiments were carried out using thiourea-based agents, achieving high desorption efficiencies. However, complete separation of Pd(II) and Ag(I) was not possible in the desorption step, and the highest separation was obtained through a two-step adsorption process.

Selective recovery of silver and palladium from acidic waste solutions using dithiocarbamate-functionalized cellulose

Foni B. Biswas et al.

Summary: This study utilized a biomass-based adsorbent to efficiently extract silver and palladium from waste water, with the adsorbent showing high adsorption capacity and extraction rate for the target metals. The recovered metals can be obtained in high purity after extraction, the method is simple and efficient, does not require the use of toxic substances, and has great potential for application on a larger scale.

Preparation of ion-exchange resin via in-situ polymerization for highly selective separation and continuous removal of palladium from electroplating wastewater

Shichang Zhang et al.

Summary: The novel mesoporous ion-exchange resin SiAcyl demonstrated high loading rate, mesoporous structure, and large specific surface area for effective separation and recovery of palladium (Pd) from electroplating wastewater. It showed remarkable selectivity, adsorption capacity, and reusability, making it a promising option for industrial applications. XPS and FT-IR analysis revealed the ion-exchange mechanism between H+ and Pd(II) during the adsorption process.

Adsorption Performances of an Acid-stable 2D Covalent Organic Framework towards Palladium(II) in Simulated High-level Liquid Waste

Hao Wu et al.

Summary: An acid-stable 2D covalent organic framework (COF TpPa-1) was synthesized through reversible Schiff-base reaction and irreversible enol-keto tautomerism, and its adsorption behavior towards Pd(II) in simulated high-level liquid waste (HLLW) was investigated. The experimental results supported the feasibility of using this type of acid-stable COF in HLLW for metal ion recovery.

Synergistic effect of Thiourea and HCl on Palladium (II) recovery: An investigation on Chemical structures and thermodynamic stability via DFT

Vanee Mohdee et al.

Summary: This study investigates the recovery of Pd (II) chlorocomplexes from industrial wastewater using a synergistic solution of thiourea mixed with hydrochloric acid. Results show that Pd-S bonding structure exhibits the highest geometric stability in the complex. The research aims to gain a better understanding of the stripping mechanisms and complex structures formed in the synergistic system.
