Enhancing electrochemical performance of ultrasmall Fe2O3-embedded carbon nanotubes via combusting-induced high-valence dopants

Yuan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a rapid and simple flame synthesis method was proposed for the preparation of nanosized Fe2O3 functionalized materials doped with high-valence metal ions. The resulting materials exhibited enhanced Na+ adsorption and increased oxygen deficiency, as well as improved electrochemical activity and charge transfer efficiency. The Ti-FeO-CNT electrode demonstrated excellent specific capacitance, and the Ti-FeO-CNT//MnO2 solid-state flexible asymmetric supercapacitor showed high energy density and stability. The flame synthesis method opens up new avenues for energy and catalysis research.

Ultrafast response and high-sensitivity acetone gas sensor based on porous hollow Ru-doped SnO2 nanotubes

Jin Li et al.

Summary: The sensor based on Ru-doped porous hollow SnO2 nanotubes exhibits excellent sensing performance towards acetone, with a fast response time and high selectivity. The enhanced gas sensing properties are attributed to the larger specific surface area, ultra-fine grain size of SnO2, and the catalytic effect of RuO2. This research suggests the potential of Ru-doped SnO2 nanotubes as highly reliable and high-performance sensing layers for acetone gas sensors.

Oxygen-vacancy-enriched substrate-less SnOx/La-Sb anode for high-performance electrocatalytic oxidation of antibiotics in wastewater

Chao Yang et al.

Summary: The controllable formation of oxygen vacancy on the surface of a freestanding SnO2-Sb anode was achieved by doping La3+ into the SnO2 crystal structure. The SnOx/La-Sb anode showed high-performance electrochemical wastewater treatment with a nearly 100% degradation rate for moxifloxacin in 30 minutes. La3+ doping-induced oxygen vacancy activation improved the anode surface for electrochemical reactions, leading to enhanced interfacial electron transfer and & BULL;OH generation.

Insights into the Adsorption and Photocatalytic Oxidation Behaviors of Boron-Doped TiO2/g-C3N4 Nanocomposites toward As(III) in Aqueous Solution

Like Ouyang et al.

Summary: The coupled adsorption-photocatalytic oxidation process using boron-doped black TiO2/g-C3N4 nanocomposite as a photocatalyst enhances the removal efficiency of arsenite contaminants by converting As(III) to As(V) and simultaneous adsorption. The enhancement of arsenic adsorption is attributed to the chemical complexation and hydrogen bond, with B-OH bonds playing a dominant role. The photocatalytic oxidation mechanism of the as-synthesized B-TiO2/g-C3N4 is attributed to the synergism of superoxide radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and photogenerated holes.

Electrocatalytic degradation of diuron herbicide using three-dimensional carbon felt/β-PbO2 anode as a highly porous electrode: Influencing factors and degradation mechanisms

Alireza Rahmani et al.

Summary: The study compared the electrocatalytic degradation of diuron using porous CF/beta-PbO2 and planar G/beta-PbO2 anodes, finding that CF/beta-PbO2 achieved faster degradation and lower energy consumption under optimal conditions. Additionally, CF/beta-PbO2 exhibited greater stability, larger surface area, and higher oxygen evolution potential compared to G/beta-PbO2. The degradation pathways for diuron mainly targeted aromatic rings and various functional groups, such as carbonyl, dimethyl urea, and amide, through HO· radical attacks.
