A sandwiched photoelectrochemical biosensing platform for detecting Cytokeratin-19 fragments based on Ag2S-sensitized BiOI/Bi2S3 heterostructure amplified by sulfur and nitrogen co-doped carbon quantum dots

Shitao Zhang et al.

Summary: A sandwiched photoelectrochemical immunosensor based on BiOI/Bi2S3/Ag2S was designed for the quantitative detection of CYFRA21-1 in serum. The intervention of narrow band gap Bi2S3 enhanced light absorption, while the matched band structure of BiOI, Bi2S3 and Ag2S promoted rapid electron transfer, ultimately improving the photoelectric signals. Additionally, sulfur and nitrogen co-doped carbon quantum dots with up-conversion luminescence, along with polydopamine combined secondary antibody labels, further enhanced the sensor's sensitivity.

Optical response of noble metal nanostructures: quantum surface effects in crystallographic facets

A. Rodriguez Echarri et al.

Summary: Noble metal nanostructures exhibit nonlocal effects due to quantum confinement and spatial dispersion, particularly in crystalline forms with distinct electronic surface states. Feibelman d-parameters are used to capture these effects, allowing for straightforward characterization of optical responses and application to various nanoscale metal morphologies. This method may provide a more affordable alternative to first-principles atomistic calculations for describing quantum nonlocal effects in mesoscopic crystalline metal surfaces in nano-optics experiments.
