CDK4 and CDK6 kinases: From basic science to cancer therapy

Anne Fassl et al.

Summary: Cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6, along with their activation partners, D-type cyclins, play a crucial role in connecting the extracellular environment with the cell cycle machinery. Inhibiting CDK4/6 has shown success in treating hormone receptor-positive breast cancers and may have potential applications in other tumor types. Recent research has shown that CDK4/6 inhibition affects various cellular functions, including tumor cell metabolism and anti-tumor immunity.

Upconversion Luminescence-Initiated and GSH-Responsive Self-Driven DNA Motor for Automatic Operation in Living Cells and In Vivo

Cheng-Yu Li et al.

Summary: The recently developed DNA motor-based fluorescent biosensors offer a promising choice for bioimaging due to their design flexibility and signal amplification capacity. However, the uncontrollable initiation and the need for exogenous driving forces are major drawbacks. To overcome these obstacles, this study proposes two rewarding solutions involving light-controlled target recognition and self-driven walking pattern. The results demonstrate commendable sensitivity and specificity of the sensing approach, making it a powerful imaging platform with potential diagnostic ability for cancer care.

Genome-wide analysis of somatic noncoding mutation patterns in cancer

Felix Dietlein et al.

Summary: We established a comprehensive map of somatic mutation events in the whole cancer genomes, representing 19 tumor types. We found that protein-coding events and noncoding events play different roles in tumors, and noncoding events may be potential drivers. We also discovered that XBP1 mutations primarily accumulate outside the gene's promoter and impact gene expression.
