A next-generation liquid xenon observatory for dark matter and neutrino physics

J. Aalbers et al.

Summary: This article discusses how to study dark matter and neutrinos using a dual-phase xenon time-projection chamber, which has extensive sensitivity to various dark matter candidates and can cover a wide range of parameter space. These detectors can also investigate neutrinos through neutrinoless double-beta decay and various astrophysical sources. A next-generation xenon-based detector will serve as a truly multi-purpose observatory to advance particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, solar physics, and cosmology.

First Direct Detection Constraints on Planck-Scale Mass Dark Matter with Multiple-Scatter Signatures Using the DEAP-3600 Detector

P. Adhikari et al.

Summary: Analysis of data collected with DEAP-3600 did not detect signals of supermassive dark matter, setting the first direct detection constraints on Planck-scale mass dark matter. These results constrain dark matter masses and Ar-10-scattering cross sections within certain ranges.

A cross-validation study of Ge-doped silica optical fibres and TLD-100 systems for high energy photon dosimetry audit under non-reference conditions

M. S. A. Fadzil et al.

Summary: The study compared the practicality of Ge-doped silica optical fibres and a commercial thermoluminescence dosimeter as potential remote dosimeters for radiotherapy postal dosimetry audit. The optical fibre system showed similar dose linearity, energy dependence, reproducibility, and fading characteristics compared to the TLD-100. Potential for use in mailed dosimetry audits with appropriate correction factors.

Copper electroplating for background suppression in the NEWS-G experiment

L. Balogh et al.

Summary: NEWS-G is a dark matter direct detection experiment that uses a 140-cm diameter proportional counter made from commercially sourced 99.99% pure copper. A low-background electroforming method was used to grow a layer of ultra-radiopure copper to shield the detector's inner surface. The radiopurity of the electroplated copper was assessed through ICP-MS, showing low levels of Th-232 and U-238 contamination comparable to previous measurements for rare-event searches.

Sensitivity of future liquid argon dark matter search experiments to core-collapse supernova neutrinos

P. Agnes et al.

Summary: Future DarkSide-20k and Argo detectors, designed for direct dark matter search, will be sensitive to core-collapse supernova neutrinos and have the potential to discover supernova bursts with high statistics. The detectors can achieve a low energy threshold and reconstruct the neutrino energy and time profile in different phases of a supernova burst.
