mHealth interventions to reduce stress in healthcare workers (fitcor): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Hannes Baumann et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop an internet and app-based intervention to reduce stress among healthcare workers. A randomized controlled trial will be conducted with participants assigned to one of five intervention groups. The effects of the intervention on work conflict, job satisfaction, and physical health will be assessed through questionnaires and sensor recordings.

Mobile health solutions for atrial fibrillation detection and management: a systematic review

Astrid N. L. Hermans et al.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the use of mobile Health (mHealth) solutions in atrial fibrillation (AF) detection and management. The findings suggest that the diagnostic accuracy of mHealth solutions varies based on the type of devices and technologies used, as well as the application settings and study population. However, several barriers to widespread mHealth adoption in healthcare systems still need to be addressed.

mHealth Interventions to Reduce Physical Inactivity and Sedentary Behavior in Children and Adolescents: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Hannes Baumann et al.

Summary: This review and meta-analysis examined the effectiveness of mHealth interventions on insufficient physical activity (IPA) and sedentary behavior (SB) among children and adolescents. The study found that mHealth interventions with high levels of individualization can significantly reduce insufficient physical activity levels, particularly in adolescents. However, interventions targeting sedentary behavior or with low levels of individualization did not show a significant overall effect. These findings highlight the importance of individualized interventions in promoting physical activity among young people.

Validation of human activity recognition using a convolutional neural network on accelerometer and gyroscope data

Eni Hysenllari et al.

Summary: This article discusses the quality of activity recognition obtained using convolutional neural network on acceleration and angular velocity data recorded from different sensor locations. Results show that the accuracy and Cohen's kappa of the network vary depending on the sensor location, with thigh sensor showing the highest levels. The study concludes that 2D-CNN performs excellently in human activity recognition, enabling real-time activity recognition even in small devices.

Nurses' steps, distance traveled, and perceived physical demands in a three-shift schedule

Hyoung Eun Chang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed nurses' physical activity using both objective measurements and subjective perceptions. The results showed that nurses' level of physical activity differed depending on the type of nursing unit, nurses' age, and unit experience. There is a need for support programs that are specific to the job demands of specific nursing units.

Evaluation of public health interventions from a complex systems perspective: A research methods review

Elizabeth McGill et al.

Summary: Applying complex systems methods in public health evaluation can enhance the relevance and strength of evidence. Different stages of evaluation, including theorising, prediction, process evaluation, impact evaluation, and further prediction, can be incorporated. Studies often utilize multiple types of systems methods, leading to diverse evaluative evidence. Further methodological innovation in systems evaluation may improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in our complex world.

Long-term Effectiveness of mHealth Physical Activity Interventions: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Annette Moenninghoff et al.

Summary: The study reveals that mHealth interventions can significantly increase physical activity across various measurement indicators, with effects sustained in both short and long terms. The study population, intervention design, and control group type were found to influence the effectiveness. However, there is a high risk of bias and low evidence quality in the included studies.

Arnold B. Bakker et al.

Summary: This study proposes a multilevel model that explains how acute job strain leads to enduring and severe job burnout. By synthesizing literature, integrating self-regulation perspectives, and JD-R theory, it suggests that consistently high job demands, low job resources, and failed self-regulation contribute to burnout.
