Refractive Index Sensors Based on Long-Period Grating in a Negative Curvature Hollow-Core Fiber

Summary: This study investigates the potential of utilizing negative curvature hollow-core fibers (NCHCFs) in combination with long-period optical fiber gratings (LPGs) for refractive index (RI) sensing. The results show that the NCHCF-based LPGs have lower sensitivities compared to NCHCFs alone.

Design of highly sensitive interferometric sensors based on subwavelength grating waveguides operating at the dispersion turning point

Summary: This paper proposes a dual-mode interferometric sensor based on a subwavelength grating (SWG) waveguide, which can improve the performance of refractive index sensors at the dispersion turning point of two dispersive TE modes. The study analyzes the necessary conditions for realizing DTP in SWG, interference spectrum characteristics, and the influence of structural parameters on gas RI sensing performance. The results show that the proposed sensor has high sensitivity.
