Aerial Energy Provisioning for Massive Energy-Constrained IoT by UAVs

June Van Mulders et al.

Summary: In this paper, an approach to provide energy to IoT devices by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is presented, addressing the challenges of finding and charging the devices. A model is proposed to give energy-constrained nodes unlimited autonomy by considering Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) and selecting suitable battery technology. Upgrading existing IoT nodes has limited impact on design and form factor.
