Summary: The study shows that the incidence and prevalence of neurological conditions in Italy are increasing, mainly due to population aging and growth. Years lived with disability associated with neurological conditions have significantly increased, calling for actions to improve the situation.

Fifty Years of Acute Ischemic Stroke Treatment: A Personal History

Summary: Over the past 50 years, significant progress has been made in acute stroke research and treatment, particularly with the development of thrombolytic therapy and mobile stroke units. Continued research is needed to further advance stroke treatment through the development of new drugs and catheters, as well as improving systems of care to enhance prehospital treatment capabilities. The history of stroke treatment serves as a reminder that medical science is constantly evolving and that what seems impossible today may become tomorrow's reality.
