Clinical Perspectives on IgG4-Related Disease and Its Classification

Guy Katz et al.

Summary: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a systemic immune-mediated fibroinflammatory disease. The classification criteria provide a framework for diagnosis and ongoing research aims to determine the optimal long-term management of the disease.

Occult myocardial infarction due to an unusual cause: a case report of periarteritis involving the left coronary artery

Xiaoyan Liu et al.

Summary: Identification and diagnosis of IgG4-related cardiovascular disease are challenging, and cases with localized coronary artery involvement may be misdiagnosed as atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. While imaging techniques play a role in differential diagnosis, further studies are needed to improve accuracy.

Disparities between IgG4-related kidney disease and extrarenal IgG4-related disease in a case-control study based on 450 patients

Qiaozhu Zeng et al.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics between IgG4-related kidney disease (IgG4-RKD+) and extrarenal IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RKD-) in a large Chinese cohort. It was found that IgG4-RKD+ patients had a higher male to female ratio, older age at onset, and commonly involved organs such as salivary gland, lymph nodes, and pancreas. Approximately 40% of IgG4-RKD+ patients had impaired renal function, with risk factors including male sex, involvement of more than three organs, and low serum C3 level. These findings suggest potential differences in the pathogenesis of these two phenotypes.

IgG4-Related Disease: A Retrospective Chinese Study of Features and Treatment Response of 98 Patients Including 4 Rare Cases

Yue-ying Pan et al.

Summary: The study reviewed the features and treatment of 98 Chinese patients with IgG4-related disease, showing that most patients had involvement of multiple organs, elevated serum IgG4 levels, and hypocomplementemia in patients with kidney involvement. Glucocorticoids therapy was effective, but further research is needed to provide a more reliable basis for diagnosis and treatment.

Coronary (peri)-arteritis in patients with IgG4-related disease: A case series from the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey

Gozde Kubra Yardimci et al.

Summary: IgG4-related disease is a fibro-inflammatory disease affecting multiple systems, including the cardiovascular system. Coronary artery involvement, although rare, can lead to significant morbidity and mortality. Early diagnosis and treatment appear to result in better outcomes for patients with coronary arteritis.
