Low-Temperature Catalytic Combustion of Chlorobenzene Over CeOx-VOx/TiO2-Graphene Oxide Catalysts

Qi Shi et al.

Summary: CeOx-VOx/TiO2-GO catalysts exhibited enhanced catalytic activity for chlorobenzene combustion. The addition of graphene oxide improved the specific surface area of the catalyst and increased the concentrations of surface Ce3+ and V4+. However, excessive graphene oxide hindered the catalyst performance by promoting the formation of large-sized CeO2 crystals and uneven dispersion of active components.

Amorphous and homogeneously Zr-doped MnOx with enhanced acid and redox properties for catalytic oxidation of 1,2-Dichloroethane

Gong Chen et al.

Summary: A series of MnOx based catalysts were prepared and investigated for 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE) oxidation. The RZrMn catalyst prepared by a novel reflux method showed improved acid and redox properties, leading to better catalytic activity, durability and resistance against water for 1,2-DCE oxidation. The catalytic oxidation process and formation of by-products on MnOx based catalysts were found to be influenced by acid and redox sites, with a positive correlation between total acid amount or OAds/OLatt and reaction rate.

Insights into Chlorobenzene Catalytic Oxidation over Noble Metal Loading {001}-TiO2: The Role of NaBH4 and Subnanometer Ru Undergoing Stable Ru0⇆Ru4+Circulation

Bohua Sun et al.

Summary: This study explores the catalytic combustion of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs) and addresses the issues of catalyst deactivation and generation of toxic byproducts. The researchers loaded Ru, Pd, and Rh on {001}-TiO2 and found that Ru/{001}-TiO2 exhibited superior reactivity, CO2 selectivity, and stability in the thermal catalytic oxidation of chlorobenzene (CB). Adding NaBH4 promoted acid sites and reactive active oxygen species (ROS), but enhancing these active sites alone is insufficient. The steady Ru0<->Ru4+ circulation successfully tackled the challenge of continuous deep oxidation of CB and effective Cl desorption. The Ru/{001}-TiO2 catalyst produced the lowest levels of polychlorinated benzene byproducts. This study provides insights for the rational design of promising catalysts for CVOC treatment.

Pt-support interaction and nanoparticle size effect in Pt/CeO2-TiO2 catalysts for low temperature VOCs removal

Yijun Shi et al.

Summary: The size of Pt nanoparticles in Pt/CeO2-TiO2 catalysts affects their degradation activity towards benzene and 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE), with smaller Pt particle sizes enhancing the metal-support interaction and redox properties for deep oxidation at low temperature. Additionally, Pt/CeO2-TiO2 catalysts with larger Pt nanoparticles exhibit more acidic sites, contributing to the conversion of DCE to C2H3Cl. Furthermore, Pt/CeO2-TiO2 catalysts show high stability in DCE degradation reactions and are minimally affected by the presence of benzene and water in the feed gases.

Synergistic effect of Pt/Ce and USY zeolite in Pt-based catalysts with high activity for VOCs degradation

Yijun Shi et al.

Summary: Pt/Ce-USY catalysts show superior activity for DCE degradation compared to Pt/USY catalysts, owing to the synergistic effect between abundant acid sites and strong oxidizing sites. For non-chlorinated VOCs degradation, both Pt/USY-r and Pt/Ce-USY-r catalysts exhibit good low-temperature activity, with low T-90 values for benzene, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane degradation, attributed to the active Pt species dispersed on the surface of USY zeolite. The loading of Pt promotes the deep oxidation of CH3Cl and C2H3Cl intermediates to CO2 and inhibits carbon deposition, increasing the durability of the catalyst for VOCs degradation, mainly due to the strong Pt-CeO2 interaction.
