Assessment of the electro-Fenton pathway for the removal of naphthalene from contaminated waters in remote regions

Summary: This study investigates the effectiveness of the electro-Fenton reaction for treating wastewater contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, particularly in remote regions. The results show that naphthalene can be fully removed in less than 3 hours, and a kinetic model is presented to predict treatment outcomes accurately under varying operating conditions. Optimal operating conditions for the electro-Fenton pathway were found to be at an applied current of 5 mA and an iron(II) concentration of 0.06 mM, resulting in low specific energy consumption suitable for remote regions.

Electrocoagulation treatment of shale gas drilling wastewater: Performance and statistical optimization

Summary: The study employed electrocoagulation (EC) as an efficient method for pretreatment of shale gas drilling wastewater, determining the optimum operating conditions for turbidity, TOC, and Ca2+ removal using response surface methodology. The maximum removal efficiencies were found to be around 98.3%, 78.5%, and 56.5% for turbidity, TOC, and Ca2+ removal, respectively, under the recommended operating parameters.

An electrocoagulation and electrooxidation treatment train to remove and degrade per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in aqueous solution

Summary: This study demonstrated the feasibility of using a novel treatment train that combines electrocoagulation with electrooxidation to remove and degrade PFASs from water. Long-chain PFASs were found to have a higher removal rate. Acid dissolution methods were effective in recovering and concentrating PFASs, and successfully applied in treating groundwater from contaminated sites.
