Multiple Responsive CPL Switches in an Enantiomeric Pair of Perovskite Confined in Lanthanide MOFs

Chong Zhang et al.

Summary: Through self-assembly of chiral metal-organic frameworks and perovskite nanocrystals, a pair of crystalline enantiomeric adducts was successfully prepared, where the perovskite nanocrystals embedded into chiral MOFs exhibited photoswitchable CPL properties. Reversible CPL switches were achieved based on two chiral emission centers and their distinct characteristics under various external stimuli.

Highly Efficient Sensitized Chiral Hybridized Local and Charge-Transfer Emitter Circularly Polarized Electroluminescence

Fan-Cheng Kong et al.

Summary: This work presents a novel hot exciton fluorescent material based on benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole and chiral binaphthol, which enables circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) through a chiral perturbation strategy. The molecule displays both CPL and hybridized local and charge transfer (HLCT) properties concurrently. Circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (CP-OLEDs) utilizing this material as the emitter achieve high external quantum efficiency (EQE) and moderate circularly polarized electroluminescence (CPEL) dissymmetry factor. Furthermore, sensitivity to a thermally activated delayed fluorescence material significantly improves the efficiency of HLCT fluorescent CP-OLEDs.

Binaphthyl-Bridged Pyrenophanes: Intense Circularly Polarized Luminescence Based on a D2 Symmetry Strategy

Kazuto Takaishi et al.

Summary: A series of D-2-symmetric macrocycles composed of alternately linked pyrene and binaphthyl moieties have been synthesized, among which a pyrenophane with ether linkers at the 2,7-positions of pyrenes demonstrated intense circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). The CPL exhibited by this pyrenophane is the highest among excimers and is insensitive to temperature, solvent, or concentration. The CPL originated from a twisting pyrene excimer with left-handed twist produced by (R)-binaphthyl moieties, showing a strong relationship between the electric and magnetic transition dipole moments.

The Pink Box: Exclusive Homochiral Aromatic Stacking in a Bis-perylene Diimide Macrocycle

Samuel E. Penty et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates the importance of chiral complementarity in aromatic stacking interactions for optimizing the chiroptical and electrochemical properties of perylene diimides (PDIs). Through the construction of a dynamic bis-PDI macrocycle, the homochiral PDI-PDI K-K stacking interactions can be exclusively activated, leading to enhanced optoelectronic performance of PDIs.

Steering Nanohelix and Upconverted Circularly Polarized Luminescence by Using Completely Achiral Components

Minghao Zhou et al.

Summary: A general supramolecular coassembly approach was developed for fabricating upconverted circularly polarized luminescence systems from completely achiral components, inducing UC-CPL activity through the formation of a chiral nanohelix via symmetry breaking. The research demonstrated that chiral molecules are not required for the fabrication of UC-CPL materials, and the polarization of UC-CPL can be tuned by the helicity of the nanohelix.
