Nanosized Titania for Removing Cr(VI) and As(III) from Aqueous Solutions

D. P. Ordinartsev et al.

Summary: The physicochemical properties of nanosized sorbents with crystal structures of anatase and rutile prepared by high-energy milling of titania powders were studied. The sorption properties of the sorbents were greatly improved for hexavalent chromium and trivalent arsenic ions compared to the original material. Adsorption mechanisms were proposed based on the findings.

Simultaneous Hydrogen Production and Acetic Acid Degradation by Heterogeneous Photocatalysis using a Metallurgical Waste as Catalyst

Ariadna-Alicia Morales-Perez et al.

Summary: This study introduces a method to generate renewable fuel using acetic acid as electron donor, copper slag as photocatalyst, and UV-Vis irradiation. Experimental design revealed that factors such as slag dose, reaction time, and their interaction significantly affect hydrogen generation. The high iron content in copper slag and traces of other semiconductors contribute to its photocatalytic activity.
