Volume Rendering of Deep Retinal Age-Related Microvascular Anomalies

Diogo Cabral et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to characterize and distinguish non-neovascular deep retinal age-related microvascular anomalies (DRAMA) from type 3 macular neovascularization (MNV) using volume rendering of OCT and OCTA. Two types of capillary dilations were identified in DRAMA, and their characteristics were analyzed. This study provides important insights into the pathological features of non-neovascular AMD.

OCT-A characterisation of recurrent type 3 macular neovascularisation

Riccardo Sacconi et al.

Summary: OCT-A showing detectable flow deepening from the DVC to the RPE/sub-RPE space is crucial for early detection of recurrent type 3 MNV, prompting retreatment and potentially preventing progression to late stages of the disease.

Non-neovascular age-related macular degeneration with subretinal fluid

Assaf Hilely et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the patterns of subretinal fluid in eyes with non-neovascular AMD and found that SRF may be a result of RPE decompensation and RPE pump failure.

GENESIS OF RETINAL-CHOROIDAL ANASTOMOSIS IN MACULAR TELANGIECTASIA TYPE 2 A Longitudinal Analysis

Mark P. Breazzano et al.

Summary: This study focuses on longitudinally characterizing structural/angiographic findings of retinal-choroidal anastomosis (RCA) in macular telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel2). The results show that the development of de novo RCAs in MacTel2 seems to be associated with retinal subsidence, and after RCAs form, they increase in number and topographic distribution over time. Initially after formation, there was no sign of exudation, indicating a lack of subretinal/subretinal pigment epithelium neovascularization in MacTel2.

Exudative non-neovascular age-related macular degeneration

Tommaso Bacci et al.

Summary: The study describes a new clinical phenotype of exudative non-neovascular AMD characterized by intraretinal exudation causing macular edema. It emphasizes the importance of multimodal imaging in differentiating this condition from other manifestations of AMD. Further research is needed to assess the clinical impact and optimal management of exudative non-neovascular AMD.
