Assembling UiO-66@TiO2 nanocomposites for efficient photocatalytic degradation of dimethyl sulfide

Zun Man et al.

Summary: The photocatalytic activity of titanium dioxide (TiO2) can be greatly improved by coupling with UiO-66 to purify odor pollutants containing reduced sulfur compounds (RSCs). UiO-66@TiO2 nanocomposites with different blending ratios were synthesized, and the U1T3 composites showed the highest photocatalytic activity compared to pristine UiO-66 and TiO2. The photocatalytic activity was found to be enhanced with increased relative humidity up to 60%, but excessive water at 90% relative humidity weakened the photocatalytic effects. UiO-66@TiO2 nanocomposites with enhanced photocatalytic performance could promote the practical applications of MOF-based photocatalysts for the degradation of odor pollutants.

Photocatalytic CO2 reduction for C2-C3 oxy-compounds on ZIF-67 derived carbon with TiO2

Pei-Hsun Sung et al.

Summary: Excessive carbon dioxide emission and fossil fuel consumption have exacerbated the global warming crisis. Photo-induced conversion of CO2 into hydrocarbons offers a potential solution for both energy and environmental problems, but conventional photocatalysts have low efficiency in CO2 conversion. This study synthesized novel photocatalysts with high selectivity for multi-carbon products and proposed a plausible mechanism for the formation of multi-carbon products during CO2 photoreduction.

Characterization and assessment of the photocatalytic activity of ZnO-Fe3O4/TiO2 nanocomposite based on MIL-125(Ti) synthesized by mixed solvo-hydrothermal and sol-gel methods

Zahra Esania et al.

Summary: In this study, a ZnO-Fe3O4/TiO2 nanocomposite derived from MIL-125(Ti) was investigated for its photocatalytic efficiency in the removal of Reactive Blue 21 dye under UV light irradiation. The experimental results showed that ZnO-Fe3O4/TiO2 had significantly higher photocatalytic degradation capability compared to pure MIL-125(Ti). The nanocomposite also exhibited good stability after multiple catalytic cycles. Therefore, ZnO-Fe3O4/TiO2 shows promise as a new alternative for reducing colored dye wastewater from the textile industry.

Frequency response analysis for the determination of thermal conductivity and water transport in MOF adsorbent coatings for heat transformation

Eric Laurenz et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the differentiation and quantification of different heat and mass transfer phenomena in the overall sorption dynamics of a binder-based aluminium fumarate coating for heat transformation applications with water as refrigerant. The methodological emphasis is on extending the volume swing frequency response (FR) method to problems with strong heat transfer limitation, mapping heat and mass transfer parameters to sample temperature and loading state to reproduce strongly non-linear behavior exhibited under application conditions. The results identify thermal conductivity and LDF time constant of the samples, showing U-shaped loading dependency and Arrhenius-type temperature dependency. The method is validated through comparison of experimental and simulation results.
