Interleukin-6 promotes primitive endoderm development in bovine blastocysts

Lydia K. Wooldridge et al.

Summary: The study shows that interleukin-6 (IL6) affects the cell numbers of inner cell mass (ICM) and primitive endoderm (PE) in bovine blastocysts, especially increasing the PE cell numbers. Meanwhile, the effects of IL6 on epiblast (EPI) cell numbers are inconsistent. Pharmacological inhibition of JAK2 reduces the number of PE cells.
