Seminal plasma metabolomics profiles following long (4-7 days) and short (2 h) sexual abstinence periods

Summary: This study investigated the metabolomic profiles of normozoospermic men and found that shorter abstinence periods led to lower concentrations of seminal metabolites. The absolute amounts of pyruvate and taurine per spermatozoa increased in samples collected after short abstinence, accompanied by higher sperm motility. Further studies are needed to explore the roles of these metabolites in sperm motility.
