Chunjie Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a geologically-constrained deep learning algorithm was proposed to extract multivariate geochemical anomalies associated with W polymetallic mineralization. The algorithm used fractal analysis to quantify the spatial distribution of known mineral deposits and used this prior knowledge as a geological constraint for delineating geochemical anomalies. Comparative studies showed that the geologically-constrained deep learning algorithm produced more reasonable and interpretable results that were consistent with the regional metallogenic law.

Analysis and prediction of diaphragm wall deflection induced by deep braced excavations using finite element method and artificial neural network optimized by metaheuristic algorithms

Weixun Yong et al.

Summary: The construction of metropolises in smart cities is a trend in developed countries, but it may cause damages to the surrounding structures. To ensure the safety of the surrounding structures, diaphragm walls have been applied to prevent deformation or collapse. This study proposes two intelligent models based on the finite element method and metaheuristic algorithms to predict the deflection of diaphragm walls induced by deep braced excavations. The results show that the proposed models, MLP-HHO and MLP-WO, provide high accuracy in predicting diaphragm wall deflection.

Adaptive relevance vector machine combined with Markov-chain-based importance sampling for reliability analysis

Yanzhong Wang et al.

Summary: A new reliability method, RVM-MIS, is proposed in this research by combining relevance vector machine and Markov-chain-based importance sampling. The method improves computational efficiency in evaluating the failure probability of engineering systems with complex implicit performance functions. Relevance vector machine provides predicted values and variances, and active learning functions can be applied to improve accuracy. Markov-chain-based importance sampling is used to generate important samples, which are then predicted by RVM to obtain failure probability, reducing computation time significantly.
