A Novel Low-Shrinkage Resin for 3D Printing

Long Ling et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the shrinkage, accuracy, and mechanical properties of a newly developed 3D printing resin material and compared it with three commercially available resins. The results showed that the new resin exhibited lower shrinkage and higher accuracy compared to the commercial resins. It also had similar strength and modulus but slightly differed in properties compared to the commercial resins. Therefore, the new resin shows promise for dental applications.

Evaluation of dimensional accuracy and degree of polymerization of stereolithography photopolymer resin under different postpolymerization conditions: An in vitro study

Awutsadaporn Katheng et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the dimensional accuracy and degree of polymerization of photopolymer resin for stereolithography under different postpolymerizing times and temperatures. Results showed that the smallest average change in gap sizes was observed at 15 minutes and 40 degrees Celsius, while the largest change was seen at 30 minutes and 80 degrees Celsius. The recommended parameters for SLA polymerization are 15 minutes and 40 degrees Celsius.

Preparation and mechanism of free-radical/cationic hybrid photosensitive resin with high tensile strength for three-dimensional printing applications

Zijun Yang et al.

Summary: A UV-curing hybrid resin is developed by blending epoxy resin with an acrylic resin, forming an interpenetrating polymer network structure suitable for 3D printing applications. It is found that the tensile strength of the hybrid resin and the elongation at the break increase within a certain range, depending on the mass ratio of epoxy to acrylic resin. Additionally, the shrinkage of the hybrid resin decreases with the increase in epoxy resin content within a certain range.

LCD-SLA 3D printing of BaTiO3 piezoelectric ceramics

Anton Sotov et al.

Summary: In this study, lead-free piezoceramics based on barium titanate were successfully produced using LCD-SLA 3D printing technology. By testing different powders and determining thermal debinding parameters, a technique for preparing ceramic slurries suitable for LCD-SLA printing was developed. The results demonstrate the high potential of this technology for producing complex piezoceramic elements for use in various industries such as aviation, marine, and nuclear.

Experimental Characterization Framework for SLA Additive Manufacturing Materials

Jordi Martin-Montal et al.

Summary: Additive manufacturing (AM) has revolutionized the industry by allowing engineers and designers to optimize designs without long manufacturing times, but limitations in materials and mechanical properties of 3D printed parts hinder large-scale production. Experimental methodology framework proposed in this study aims to study materials printed by stereolithography (SLA) to broaden their use, while exploring the influence of different printing parameters on material behavior. Testing specimens were manufactured using Form 2 from Formlabs(R) with resin called Durable, providing insights for future research on other resins.

Effect of build angle and layer height on the accuracy of 3-dimensional printed dental models

Jennifer Ko et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the build angle and layer height have significant interactive effects on the accuracy of 3D-printed dental models. While most models were within clinically acceptable ranges, those printed at 0 degrees/20 mu m were the least accurate. The choice of build angle and layer height should be considered in relation to the clinical application and desired print time.

A focused simulation-based optimization of print time and material usage with respect to orientation, layer height and support settings for multi-pathological anatomical models in inverted vat photopolymerization 3D printing

Prashanth Ravi et al.

Summary: The study focused on optimizing anatomical models' 3D printing process by considering factors like orientation, layer height, and support settings. The research found that a 0.1 mm layer height was the best setting across all models, with orientation having a complex impact on print time and material usage in some cases. Support density and tip size had minor effects on both variables, and hollow models required more support material compared to solid models.
