Seaweed Proteins as a Source of Bioactive Peptides

Mehdi Alboofetileh et al.

Summary: Seaweeds are gaining attention as a sustainable and vegetarian source of protein with bioactive peptides that have potential health benefits. However, challenges such as seasonal variation in bioactivity, difficulties in protein extraction, scalability of peptide production methods, and safety need to be addressed before seaweed proteins can be successfully applied as a source of bioactive peptides.

Inhibitory mechanism of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitory peptides from black tea

Yating Lu et al.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the inhibitory mechanism of tea peptides on the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) using in vitro and in silico methods. Results showed that four tea peptides act as allosteric inhibitors to ACE, with peptide IV demonstrating the lowest IC50 value possibly due to its stability during docking with ACE. These bioactive peptides have the potential to be used as novel functional ingredients in black tea.

A novel angiotensin I-converting enzyme inhibitory peptide derived from the trypsin hydrolysates of salmon bone proteins

Thanakrit Kaewsahnguan et al.

Summary: This study explores the potential of salmon bone in producing protein hydrolysates with ACE inhibitory activity. By optimizing the enzymatic hydrolysis process and using advanced techniques like ultrafiltration and RP-HPLC, the study successfully isolated the peptide F-7 with the highest ACE-inhibitory activity, showing promising applications in food and pharmaceutical sectors.
