PmiREN2.0: from data annotation to functional exploration of plant microRNAs

Zhonglong Guo et al.

Summary: This study updated the PmiREN2.0 database with a large amount of new miRNA data, including predicted upstream transcription factors and annotation of miRNA targets, constructed a genome-wide regulatory network centered on miRNAs, built phylogenetic trees of conserved miRNA families, added design tools, and established a forum called 'PmiREN Community' for resource and new discovery sharing.

miR160: An Indispensable Regulator in Plant

Kai Hao et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the recent progress on the contributions of the miR160-ARF module to important traits of plants and the role of miR160-centered gene regulatory network in coordinating growth with endogenous and environmental factors. Manipulation of miR160-guided gene regulation may provide a new method to engineer plants with improved adaptability and yield.

Chilling injury of tomato fruit was alleviated under low-temperature storage by silencing Sly-miR171e with short tandem target mimic technology

Keyan Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of Sly-miR171e in the post-harvest cold tolerance of tomato fruit. The results showed that overexpression of Sly-miR171e promoted postharvest chilling injury of tomato fruit, while knockdown of Sly-miR171e alleviated the cold injury. The study provided useful information for genetic modification of miR171e and control of postharvest fruit chilling injury.

Molecular Mechanisms of Diverse Auxin Responses during Plant Growth and Development

Yang Zhang et al.

Summary: The plant hormone auxin plays a crucial role in regulating various developmental processes throughout all stages of plant growth. Recent studies have revealed more details about the molecular mechanisms of auxin responses and the differences between different types of responses. Genetically modifying auxin response genes can also impact various traits in plants. There are still important aspects and unsolved questions regarding auxin responses that need further research.

Auxin regulates source-sink carbohydrate partitioning and reproductive organ development in rice

Zhigang Zhao et al.

Summary: This study reveals an auxin signaling cascade regulating carbohydrate partitioning and reproductive organ development in rice. Elevated auxin levels in the rice dao mutant cause altered sucrose accumulation between source and sink tissues, resulting in closed spikelets, indehiscent anthers, and parthenocarpic seeds. The expression of OsARF18 and OsARF2 is significantly affected in the mutant, and their regulation of OsSUT1 contributes to the observed phenotypes.

Silencing of Sly-miR171d increased the expression of GRAS24 and enhanced postharvest chilling tolerance of tomato fruit

Zengting Xing et al.

Summary: The study found that silencing Sly-miR171d can delay tomato fruit chilling injury and electrolyte leakage, while maintaining fruit firmness and quality. Furthermore, silencing Sly-miR171d can also improve the resistance ability of postharvest tomato fruit to cold stress.

Genome-Wide Identification, Expression and Interaction Analysis of ARF and AUX/IAA Gene Family in Soybean

Shahid Ali et al.

Summary: This study provides a genome-wide analysis of the ARF and Aux/IAA gene families in soybean, revealing the expression profile and structural and functional properties of these genes. The findings suggest that GmARFs and GmIAAs play important roles in soybean growth and development, with distinct expression patterns and interactions with functional genes involved in auxin transport.

MiR160 and its target genes ARF10, ARF16 and ARF17 modulate hypocotyl elongation in a light, BRZ, or PAC-dependent manner in Arabidopsis miR160 promotes hypocotyl elongation

Xuehuan Dai et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that miR160 and its target genes ARF10, ARF16, and ARF17 modulate hypocotyl elongation in Arabidopsis in a light, brassinazole (BRZ), or paclobutrazol (PAC)-dependent manner, but have no effect in the dark.ARF10 represses the expression of PACLOBUTRAZOL RESISTANCE1 (PRE1) and 35S::PRE1 partly rescues the phenotype of mARF10, suggesting that PRE1 acts downstream of ARF10 in regulating hypocotyl elongation.
