Preparation of waterborne polyurethane based on different polyols: the effect of structure and crystallinity

Shen Diao et al.

Summary: Waterborne polyurethanes (WPU) with different soft segments, polyester diol and polyether diol, and different crystalline degrees were synthesized using carboxylic acid/sulfonic acid as mixed hydrophilic monomer. The solid content, particle size, and properties of the WPU films were investigated. It was found that the structure of polyester and low crystalline degree resulted in higher solid content, while the structure of polyether diol showed better thermal stability. Additionally, polyester with high crystalline degree exhibited lower water absorption value.

UV-curable waterborne polyurethane coatings: A state-of-the-art and recent advances review

Lucas Dall Agnol et al.

Summary: UV-WPU, as an environmentally friendly alternative material with good properties, has been developed with various formulations over the years. However, there is currently no valuable review on the significant influencing factors in UV-WPU manufacture. This study aims to answer specific questions about the state of UV-WPU materials and provide new combinations of raw materials and solutions.
