It is essential to support these workers throughout the pandemic to ensure that gains in population health, including progress on non-communicable diseases, are sustained.

COVID-19 and the public response: Knowledge, attitude and practice of the public in mitigating the pandemic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Summary: The study aimed to assess the public knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) towards the COVID-19 pandemic and the preparedness of service providers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The results showed that the majority of the public had moderate knowledge, optimistic attitude, and good preventive practices. Service providers had made hand-washing facilities available, but additional innovative strategies for behavior change are needed. Periodic evaluation of public KAP and service providers' preparedness is crucial for effectively combating the pandemic.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the current level of knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) towards COVID-19 pandemic among rural dwellers in Sidama regional state, Southern Ethiopia in 2020. The majority of study participants showed good knowledge and optimistic attitude toward COVID-19, but the level of practice was lower than expected. Further public education interventions and community sensitization campaigns are needed for the rural adult population in Sidama regional state, Ethiopia.

Evaluation of COVID-19 related knowledge and preparedness in health professionals at selected health facilities in a resource-limited setting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Summary: The study revealed that health professionals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia had some knowledge about COVID-19, but overall knowledge level was moderate. There were lower knowledge levels in younger age groups, non-physicians, and females. Half of the respondents mentioned inadequate preparedness of their hospitals, indicating the need for more global solidarity, especially concerning the shortage of consumables and lack of equipment.
