Phenylboronic Acid-Modified Polyamidoamine Mediated the Transfection of Polo-Like Kinase-1 siRNA to Achieve an Anti-Tumor Efficacy

Gu Gong et al.

Summary: The phenylboronic acid-modified polyamidoamine (PP) was used as a carrier for delivering Polo-like kinase-1 siRNA, leading to a significant anti-tumor response in hepatocarcinoma cells. The PP/siPlk-1 nanoparticles exhibited strong anti-proliferation effects and could efficiently suppress the migration and invasion of tumor cells. The derivative PP holds great potential as an ideal tumor-targeting carrier for gene therapy in malignant tumors.

Jiang Chen et al.

Summary: SCSIO07399 strain of Verrucosispora sp. produces ansamycin-like polyketides kendomycin B-D with potent antibacterial activities and moderate tumor cytotoxicity. The biosynthetic gene cluster for kendomycin B was identified, and the essential role of the kmy cluster in biosynthesis was confirmed through gene disruption and heterologous expression. Insights into kendomycin B biosynthesis were gained and a foundation was set for further research into exploiting the carbacylic ansa scaffold.

Efficacy and safety of 5-fluorouracil in infrared monitor guided bleb revision

Rumi Kawashima et al.

Summary: In this study, the safety and efficiency of 5-flourouracil (5-FU) as an adjunctive anti-metabolite in Infrared monitor-guided bleb revision (IRGBR) for failing filtering blebs were evaluated. The use of adjunctive 5-FU in IRGBR led to a higher success rate for failing trabeculectomy blebs. Risk factors for failure included no use of 5-FU and intraocular pressure (IOP) >= 10 mmHg 1 week after IRGBR.

Longitudinal changes in complete avascular area assessed using anterior segmental optical coherence tomography angiography in filtering trabeculectomy bleb

Ai Kido et al.

Summary: Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a new technique for non-invasive imaging of blood vessels and can be used to evaluate changes in blood vessels post-trabeculectomy. CAAs were detected in most cases after surgery and their extent decreased over time, but they were not significantly associated with surgical success. Using OCTA for objective evaluation of bleb vascularity may be helpful.

Overexpression of miR-101 suppresses collagen synthesis by targeting EZH2 in hypertrophic scar fibroblasts

Jie Li et al.

Summary: MicroRNA-101 (miR-101) is a tumor suppressor microRNA associated with various diseases, but its role in hypertrophic scars (HS) remained unclear. Research showed that low miR-101 expression in HS and HSF, overexpressing miR-101 reduced collagen expression in HSF, while high EZH2 expression was detected in HS and HSF. MiR-101 targeted EZH2 to suppress collagen deposition in HS.
