Simulation study of reconfigurable surface plasmon resonance refractive index sensor employing bismuth telluride and MXene nanomaterial for cancer cell detection

Sachin Singh et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly angular sensitive surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor has been developed for the detection of cancer cells. The biosensor structure is based on the Kretschmann configuration and utilizes an angular interrogation technique. It has the potential to detect various types of cancer cells with refractive index alterations ranging from 1.360 to 1.390. The biosensor design, which consists of multiple layers including CaF2 prism, silver metal, bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3), and MXene (Ti3C2Tx) layers, has been optimized for performance parameters such as angular sensitivity, quality factor, detection accuracy, and electric field intensity distribution.

Black Phosphorous and Cytop Nanofilm-Based Long-Range SPR Sensor with Enhanced Quality Factor

Bhishma Karki et al.

Summary: This numerical work proposes two novel designs of long-range surface plasmon resonance sensors (LRSPR) using two different coupling prisms. The performance analysis of the proposed sensor has been investigated using performance parameters such as quality factor (Q), detection accuracy (DA), sensitivity (S), and full-width half maximum (FWHM). The transfer matrix method (TMM) has been used to calculate reflectance. The popular two-dimensional (2D) material, black phosphorus (BP), has been used as the basic recognition element (BRE) due to its optoelectrical features. The maximum values obtained for Q, DA, and S are 3333.25 1/RIU, 250 degree-1, and 13.33333 degree/RIU for the 2S2G coupled sensor design and 3055.5 1/RIU, 83.33 degree-1, and 36.66667 degree/RIU for the BK7 coupled sensor design. The theoretical investigation is carried out using an operating wavelength of 633 nm based on the principle of attenuated total reflection (ATR).

Titanium Disilicide, Black Phosphorus-Based Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor for Dengue Detection

Abdulkarem H. M. Almawgani et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive regeneratable surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor for detecting the dengue virus is proposed and examined. The sensor structure includes a BK7 prism, Ag, titanium disilicide (TiSi2), black phosphorus (BP), and a sensing medium that absorbs different blood components. The suggested SPR-based dengue sensor achieves excellent sensing abilities and can accurately identify the virus. The electric field strength close to the interface between TiSi2 and the sensing medium is analyzed through simulation.

Khaled Aliqab et al.

Summary: A surface plasmon resonance (SPR) based biosensor has been proposed for detecting Pseudomonas bacteria. The sensor design includes two silvers (Ag), a Titanium dioxide (TiO2), graphene, and an affinity layer with antimonene grating placed over a BK7 coupling prism based on the Kretschmann configuration. The sensor's performance parameters have been evaluated numerically and analyzed, showing improved efficacy in detecting Pseudomonas bacteria with the inclusion of TiO2 and affinity layers. A comparative analysis between the proposed and existing structures has been made, achieving sensitivity, quality factor, and detection accuracy parameters of 370.8 degrees (RIU)-1, 137.843(1/RIU), and 0.371747 degree -1.

Sensitivity enhancement of a plasmonic biosensor for urine glucose detection by employing black phosphorous

Archana Yadav et al.

Summary: A novel optimized structure for a biosensor is proposed, which enhances the sensitivity of urine glucose detection. By adding a few layers of black phosphorous between the gold and silver layers, the sensitivity is increased up to 1.5 times. Further enhancement up to 3 times is achieved with the addition of BP sheet layers. The biosensor shows significant resonance shift and higher sensitivity in response to changes in refractive indices.

Exploring the enhancement effects of hetero-metal doping in CeO2 on CO2 photocatalytic reduction performance

Min Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that doping Y and Mo increases the oxygen vacancy concentration in CeO2, facilitating light absorption and separation/transfer of electrons and holes, thus enhancing the photocatalytic activity for CO2 reduction. Intermediates generated during CO2 photoreduction, such as HCO3-, accumulate on the catalyst surface, leading to a gradual decline in activity.
