Electric field strengths within a micro cavity plasma array measured by Stark shift and splitting of a helium line pair

Sebastian Dzikowski et al.

Summary: The electric field is a crucial parameter in plasma research, but experimental data on electric field strengths in micro-structured surface discharges are scarce. By utilizing the Stark effect of permitted and forbidden helium spectral lines, spatially-integrated and time-resolved electric field strengths can be obtained within a certain range, and can be controlled by the bipolarity of the applied voltage.

State enhanced actinometry in the COST microplasma jet

David Steuer et al.

Summary: A new actinometry method, helium state enhanced actinometry (SEA), is proposed in this study. By measuring the emission of specific atomic states at certain wavelengths, SEA allows for the simultaneous determination of atomic oxygen density and mean electron energy. Compared to traditional actinometry methods and energy resolved actinometry (ERA), SEA offers a simplified experimental procedure and improved precision in electron energy measurement.

Intra-cavity dynamics in a microplasma channel by side-on imaging

Simon Kreuznacht et al.

Summary: This study investigates a microplasma channel, revealing different discharge behaviors and ignition characteristics compared to microplasma arrays. The discharge expands in both height and width above the upper edge of the powered electrodes, exhibiting self-pulsing and wavelike ignition. The insights gained from this study will help understand the discharge behavior in microplasma arrays.
