Analysis of meteor trails providing combined forward and backward scattering of radio waves

I Lapshina et al.

Summary: The authors in this paper examine the possible existence of ionized meteor trails providing forward and backward scattering of radio waves at radio links larger than 300 km. They propose a model for computer simulation of these Forward-Backward Scattering (FBS) trails. The simulation results show that FBS trails have a distinctive nearly transverse orientation relative to the axis of the meteor-scatter radio link, with the probability decreasing as the radio link length increases.
