Essential roles of SERKs in the ROOT MERISTEM GROWTH FACTOR-mediated signaling pathway

Yang Ou et al.

Summary: ROOT MERISTEM GROWTH FACTORs (RGFs) are crucial for root apical meristem development. RGFs interact with RGI receptors and SERKs receptor-like protein kinases to regulate stem cell maintenance and root development stability. In this study, we demonstrate the essential role of SERKs as coreceptors in the RGF1-mediated signaling pathway.

Gravity induces asymmetric Ca2+ spikes in the root cap in the early stage of gravitropism

Ruoxin Zhao et al.

Summary: Gravitropism is an important strategy for plant adaptation to changing environments. Previous studies have shown that Ca2+ plays a role in plant gravity response, but little is known about the dynamic changes of Ca2+ during root gravitropism. This study found that gravistimulation not only increased the concentration of Ca2+, but also accelerated the occurrence of Ca2+ sparks in the root cap, especially in the lower side of the lateral root cap, during the early stage of root gravity response.

Auxin-Regulated Reversible Inhibition of TMK1 Signaling by MAKR2 Modulates the Dynamics of Root Gravitropism

Maria Mar Marques-Bueno et al.

Summary: Plants can adjust their growth direction according to gravity by utilizing asymmetric distribution of the plant hormone auxin, which is dependent on the activity of polarly localized PIN-FORMED (PIN) auxin-efflux carriers.

Recent advances in peptide signaling during Arabidopsis root development

Byeong Wook Jeon et al.

Summary: Root development is regulated by plant hormones, transcription factors, and recently identified small peptides and their receptors. Small peptides bind to receptors, inducing signaling for cell-to-cell communication and coordination of root development. The interconnection between peptide signaling and conventional phytohormone signaling, as well as the diversity of peptide-receptor interactions, have been discussed in recent studies.

An Integrative Model of Plant Gravitropism Linking Statoliths Position and Auxin Transport

Nicolas Levernier et al.

Summary: This article investigates the response mechanism of plants to gravity, proposing a new theory that statoliths act as position sensors rather than gravitational force sensors, and establishing a model to explain plant gravitropism. The model recovers several major features of the gravitropic response of plants and predicts the existence of a gravity-independent memory process associated with PIN turnover, calling for further experimental studies.

PIN-mediated polar auxin transport regulations in plant tropic responses

Huibin Han et al.

Summary: Plants exhibit differential growth responses through the coordination of auxin hormone and PIN auxin exporters during tropisms, which are regulated by environmental stimuli. Auxin gradients promote cell elongation and bending, with auxin feedback playing a crucial role in PIN polarity during bending termination. Interactions between different tropisms are reviewed to enhance understanding of plant adaptive growth in the natural environment.
