Ginkgo biloba Extract Attenuates Light-Induced Photoreceptor Degeneration by Modulating CAV-1-Redoxosome Signaling

Ke Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the protective effect of Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) on photoreceptors against white light-induced oxidative damage. This effect is mediated through the modulation of CAV-1-redoxosome signaling, showing potential therapeutic benefits in preventing retinal degenerative diseases.

Neuroprotective effects of Ginkgo biloba dropping pills in Parkinson's disease

Dingyi Yu et al.

Summary: Parkinson's disease (PD) lacks effective and safe treatments, but Ginkgo biloba dropping pill (GBDP) shows potential as an alternative therapy with its antioxidant and neuroprotective effects. GBDP demonstrated higher levels of certain compounds compared to the G. biloba extract EGb 761, and showed greater neuroprotective effects in in vitro and in vivo PD models. The Akt/GSK3 beta pathway may be involved in the neuroprotective effects of GBDP.

Vildagliptin Attenuates Myocardial Dysfunction and Restores Autophagy via miR-21/SPRY1/ERK in Diabetic Mice Heart

Xiaochen Li et al.

Summary: Vildagliptin prevents diabetic cardiomyopathy by restoring autophagy through the miR-21/SPRY1/ERK/mTOR pathway. Overexpression of miR-21 attenuates the protective effect of vild on cardiac function.

Autophagy in the diabetic heart: A potential pharmacotherapeutic target in diabetic cardiomyopathy

Saikat Dewanjee et al.

Summary: Diabetes is clinically associated with a higher risk of cardiac failure, with diabetic cardiomyopathy being a common complication that results from myocardial infarction. The dysfunction of autophagy plays a crucial role in the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy, leading to impaired cellular homeostasis and potential pathogenic effects. Current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of autophagy regulation in diabetic cardiomyopathy and exploring pharmacotherapeutic strategies to target autophagy.

Role of Autophagy in Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor Induced Anti-Apoptotic Effects in Diabetic Cardiomyopathy

Guang-Yin Shen et al.

Summary: The study showed that G-CSF can reduce cardiomyocyte apoptosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy by increasing autophagy levels. The anti-apoptotic effect of G-CSF was found to be abrogated by autophagy inhibitors, indicating the significance of autophagy up-regulation in mediating the protective effects of G-CSF.
