Attenuation of Chilling Injury and Improving Antioxidant Capacity of Persimmon Fruit by Arginine Application

Fahimeh Nasr et al.

Summary: This study found that L-arginine treatment during low-temperature storage of persimmon can reduce weight loss and chilling injury, maintain fruit firmness and antioxidant enzyme activity, and increase the content of total soluble tannin compounds. However, it has no significant impact on titratable acidity and total soluble solids. Therefore, the application of L-arginine can effectively improve the postharvest quality and extend the storage life of persimmon.

Postharvest chitosan-arginine nanoparticles application ameliorates chilling injury in plum fruit during cold storage by enhancing ROS scavenging system activity

Roghayeh Mahmoudi et al.

Summary: The present study demonstrates that chitosan-arginine nanoparticles (CTS-Arg NPs) at 0.5% are the most effective treatment in delaying chilling injury and prolonging the shelf life of plum fruit. This treatment alleviates chilling injury symptoms, enhances antioxidant capacity, delays weight loss and decay, and maintains fruit firmness and nutritional content.

Octapeptide NOP-1 treatment delays yellowing in broccoli floret during low temperature storage

Morteza Soleimani Aghdam et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that treatment with 750 μM NOP-1 effectively delayed floret yellowing in broccoli by inhibiting chlorophyll degradation, preventing jasmonic acid biosynthesis, and maintaining membrane integrity. This innovative octapeptide offers a safe and eco-friendly approach to advancing technological proficiency in delaying floret yellowing during low temperature storage.
