Quantum simulation of an exotic quantum critical point in a two-site charge Kondo circuit

Winston Pouse et al.

Summary: Tuning a material to the cusp between two distinct ground states can produce unique physical properties. A nanoelectronic circuit comprising two coupled hybrid metal-semiconductor islands has been studied as a potentially scalable platform for quantum simulation. By combining the controllable inter-site couplings of semiconductors with the equivalent sites achievable through tuning local potentials in metals, this architecture has shown unusual quantum critical behavior and matches theoretical predictions.

Universal time-domain Prony fitting decomposition for optimized hierarchical quantum master equations

Zi-Hao Chen et al.

Summary: This Communication proposes a new time-domain Prony fitting decomposition (t-PFD) as an accurate and efficient exponential series method for arbitrary bath correlation functions, significantly optimizing the numerical efficiency of hierarchical equations of motion (HEOM) formalism, particularly in low temperature regimes. The t-PFD is calibrated against the Pade spectrum decomposition method, and applied to the single-impurity Anderson model system for converged HEOM evaluations. Quantum Phases of Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Moire Systems

Yiqing Zhou et al.

Summary: Moire systems are important platforms for studying strong correlation physics. Recent experiments on heterobilayer transition metal dichalcogenide Moire systems have revealed a relatively simple model system of an extended Hubbard model on a triangular lattice. Using the density matrix renormalization group, we explored the phase space of the extended Hubbard model on the triangular lattice and found competition between different phases.

Light-induced emergent phenomena in 2D materials and topological materials

Changhua Bao et al.

Summary: The interaction between light and 2D and topological materials serves as a fascinating control knob for inducing emergent properties and achieving new functionalities in ultrafast timescales, from femtoseconds to picoseconds. Recent experimental progress on light-induced phenomena, such as Bloch-Floquet states and photo-induced phase transitions, has been discussed, with perspectives on the opportunities of proposed light-induced phenomena and open experimental challenges also provided.

Nevanlinna Analytical Continuation

Jiani Fei et al.

Summary: By explicitly respecting the analytic Nevanlinna structure of Green's function, this study shows that positive and normalized spectral functions can be obtained, and presents a continued fraction expansion method to derive all possible functions consistent with the analytic structure. Application to synthetic trial data and the band structure of silicon demonstrate the accurate resolution of sharp, smooth, and multipeak data, as well as high energy features. Continuations in a realistic correlated setup reveal previously unresolved additional features, substantially increasing the resolution of real frequency calculations and overcoming a main limitation of finite-temperature quantum simulations.

Spatiotemporal characterization of the field-induced insulator-to-metal transition

Javier del Valle et al.

Summary: The study utilized in-operando optical reflectivity to investigate the growth dynamics of the metallic phase, revealing that filament formation is triggered by nucleation at hotspots. By comparing three case studies, the resistivity change was identified as the crucial parameter governing this process.

Resolving the nonequilibrium Kondo singlet in energy- and position-space using quantum measurements

Andre Erpenbeck et al.

Summary: Researchers have proposed a method to indirectly demonstrate the existence of Kondo cloud by measuring singlet weights, and discussed the nonequilibrium mechanism in a quantum transport setup. This reveals a distinct nonequilibrium mechanism for generating Kondo-like entanglement compared to its equilibrium counterpart.

Dynamics of the electrically induced insulator-to-metal transition in rare-earth nickelates

Javier del Valle et al.

Summary: The study investigates the electrically induced insulator-to-metal transition in rare-earth nickelates by comparing the time-dependent transport properties of two distinct members. Stark differences in the nucleation and growth of the metallic phase were observed, with NdNiO3 evolving more rapidly. The amplitude of the resistivity change across the transition was identified as the key parameter controlling the switching speed, contributing to a unified vision of the field-induced transition dynamics across correlated oxides families.
