Charge Order and Superconductivity as Competing Brothers in Cuprate High-Tc Superconductors

Masatoshi Imada

Summary: This review focuses on the interplay between charge order and d-wave superconductivity in high Tc copper-oxide superconductors, with an emphasis on electron fractionalization and its consequences. It discusses the severe competition between superconducting states and charge inhomogeneity, as well as the implications of electron fractionalization on the mechanism of superconductivity. Exploration of these concepts and their impact on experimental observations are overviewed, with a future vision for integrated spectroscopy to address long-standing challenges in cuprates and other strongly correlated materials.

Charge Order at High Temperature in Cuprate Superconductors

Riccardo Arpaia et al.

Summary: The presence of different electronic orders, especially charge density waves, in cuprates suggests their key role in revealing the mysteries of these materials. Recent experiments have shown that very short-ranged charge modulations exist across a wider region of the phase diagram, coexisting with CDW at lower temperatures and persisting up to temperatures well above the pseudogap opening.
