Impurity effect on the ground state binding energy of a fully coupled polaron in a double ring shaped quantum dot

Chunyu Cai et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the electrical properties of the fully coupled polaron (FCP) in double rings shaped quantum dot (DRSQD) under the influence of impurities. By combining two methods, the effects of parameters of DRSQD and the strength of the Coulomb's impurity potential on the polaron's vibrational frequency, ground state energy, and ground state binding energy are studied. Additionally, a comparison of the polaron's properties with and without impurity, and under weak coupling limit and strong coupling limit is provided.

Effects of antidot lattices density on transport features in zigzag graphene nanoribbons

Xiaowei Zhang et al.

Summary: Creating antidot lattices in graphene nanoribbons can significantly modify electronic transport features. The study suggests that a dense array of such antidots in GNRs can lead to an effective and stable transport gap. The results may guide the design of future graphene-based devices.

Half-metallic transition for ZGNRs adsorbing porphine molecules under an in-plane external electric field

Wence Ding et al.

Summary: This study explores the control of magnetic transition behavior by altering the coupling between a molecule and a nanoribbon. The researchers find that the sensitivity of the magnetic response is greater in the asymmetry structure model compared to the symmetry model. By applying an external electric field, the asymmetry models can induce a series of magnetic phase transitions and can convert the half-metallic state from spin-up sub-band to spin-down sub-band. The findings offer a potential approach for achieving logic operations in spintronics.

Multi-functional switch effect in interlocking molecular rotators-on-graphene systems using electric fields

Xiaobo Li et al.

Summary: A recent theoretical study has demonstrated that the conductivity of a graphene nanoribbon with gear-like molecules can be controlled by changing the electric field strength and molecular orientation. This design allows for the creation of conductance switches and rotational switches, and has potential applications in molecular motors and other nanoscale devices.

On-Surface Synthesis and Characterization of [7]Triangulene Quantum Ring

Jie Su et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of an open-shell [7]triangulene quantum ring molecule on Au(111) through surface-assisted cyclodehydrogenation of a rationally designed kekulene derivative. Bond-resolved scanning tunneling microscopy (BR-STM) and dI/dV mapping revealed the molecular structure and edge-localized electronic states of [7]TQR, confirming its retention of an open-shell septuple ground state on Au(111). This work demonstrates a new approach for designing high-spin graphene quantum rings for future quantum devices.

Spin State Switching in Heptauthrene Nanostructure by Electric Field: Computational Study

Karol Szalowski

Summary: Experimental studies have confirmed the presence of a triplet spin state in an atomically precise heptauthrene nanostructure, with the potential to control the spin using an external electric field. The study also explores the magnetic phase diagram and spin distribution within the nanostructure, as well as the effects of external factors on the system.

The influence of AA and AB stacking on the ground state magnetic properties of triangular bilayer graphene quantum dots

Mahmoodreza Sharifian et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of AA and AB stacking on eigenstates and eigenvalues of bilayer graphene nanoflakes using the tight-binding model. AB stacking doubles the zero eigenvalues of single layer nanoflakes, while AA stacking achieves eigenvalues by merging single layer eigenvalues but neglecting the sublattice-polarized character of zero states. Additionally, the onset of ground state magnetization in bilayer quantum dots is affected by different stackings, with AA stacking requiring a nonzero onsite interaction strength for magnetization.

Theoretical investigations of hydrogen gas sensing and storage capacity of graphene-based materials: A review

Mehak Singla et al.

Summary: The excessive usage of fossil fuel energy has led to the development of alternative fuels, with hydrogen emerging as a promising option due to its production from renewable sources and emission of only heat and water upon combustion. Graphene-based materials, with their exceptional properties, are being explored for hydrogen adsorption and storage, although modifications are needed to meet specific requirements. Studies on the capacity of graphene materials for hydrogen storage through physisorption or chemisorption are being conducted using Density Functional theory, showing promising results for the potential sensing ability of the material.
