Facile preparation and characterization of nanostructured ZnO/CuO composite thin film for sweat concentration sensing applications

Bunyamin Sahin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the morphological, structural, optical properties, and sweat sensing response of ZnO/CuO nanocomposite thin films synthesized by the SILAR method. The particle and crystallite size increased with SILAR cycles, while surface roughness decreased. Optical band energy decreased with film thickness, and the sensing response to artificial sweat concentration showed a monotonic increase.

Enhancement of optoelectronic properties of ZnO thin films by Al doping for photodetector applications

V. Doni Pon et al.

Summary: In this study, pure and Al-doped ZnO thin films were deposited on glass substrates using a cost-effective nebulizer spray technique. The structural, optical, and electrical properties of the thin films were investigated, with the 1% Al-doped ZnO thin film showing the best photodetection performance, making it a promising candidate for photodetector applications.

Enriched optoelectronic properties of cobalt-doped ZnO thin films for photodetector applications

S. Vinoth et al.

Summary: Cobalt-doped ZnO thin films synthesized using chemical bath deposition show excellent UV photosensing properties, with nanowire morphology and hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure. Due to the replacement of Co2+ ions, an increase in crystallite size and decrease in bandgap was observed, leading to high photoabsorption capability, with the highest responsivity reaching 0.918 AW(-1).

Summary: The study demonstrates that Ga-doped ZnO thin films can serve as a promising alternative anode material in OLEDs, replacing ITO and SnO2:F films. Experimental results show that ZnO:Ga films exhibit excellent performance in terms of transparency and electrical properties, suitable for OLEDs and other optoelectronic devices.

Defect induced room temperature ferromagnetism in high quality Co-doped ZnO bulk samples

M. P. F. de Godoy et al.

Summary: This study reports on achieving room temperature ferromagnetism in ZnO samples through Co-doping. By introducing controlled defects via heat treatments in a reductive atmosphere and conducting structural analysis and magnetometry, the magnetic behavior is fully explained in terms of the bound magnetic polaron model. The origin of the observed defect-induced ferromagnetism is attributed to the ferromagnetic coupling between Co ions mediated by magnetic polarons due to zinc interstitial defects.

Synthesis and optical analysis of nanostructured F-doped ZnO thin films by spray pyrolysis: Transparent electrode for photocatalytic applications

A. Abdel-Galil et al.

Summary: Spray pyrolysis was used to deposit nanostructured thin films of ZnO and ZnO: F on soda-lime glass substrates at 400 degrees C. Characterization by XRD and AFM revealed the wurtzite hexagonal structure and mean grain size in nanoscale of the deposited films. Optical parameters indicated a slight decrease in the direct optical band gap of ZnO film with F doping level. The photocatalytic activity of F doped ZnO films was evaluated for phenol removal from water, showing high efficiency with 3%F doped ZnO film having the highest constant rate of phenol photodegradation.

Single-step Zno nanorod bunches formation on p-type Si-conductive substrates by electrophoretic deposition

Silvina Real et al.

Summary: This study explored the conditions for the direct self-assembly of one-dimensional ZnO nanorod bunches on boron-doped crystalline Si substrates with different conductivities. The results showed differences in the morphology of ZnO nanostructures depending on the Si substrate conductivity used, and XRD patterns indicated preferential formation of ZnO nanorods in the (002) direction. Photoluminescence measurements revealed quantum confined excitons and high emission intensity in the visible range, while spectra showed emission was dominated by the ZnO nanoparticles forming the nanostructures. The study expands the EPD technique applications to form nanorod nanostructures in a single step.

Study of ZnO/BST interface for thin-film transistor (TFT) applications

Kavindra Kandpal et al.

Summary: This study investigates the ZnO/BST interface for potential use of (Ba,Sr)TiO3 as a gate-dielectric in ZnO based TFTs. The BST shows a peak behavior in the C-V curve due to its paraelectric nature, and the ZnO/BST MIS-C structure exhibits counter-clockwise hysteresis and low leakage current density. The use of BST as a gate-dielectric in ZnO TFTs shows promise for fast switching and low off-state current.
