The effect of substitutional doping of Yb2+ on structural, electronic, and optical properties of CsCaX 3 (X: Cl, Br, I) phosphors: a first-principles study

Rashid Khan et al.

Summary: The effects of Yb2+ substitutional doping on the structural, electronic, and optical properties of perovskite compounds have been investigated. It was found that Yb2+ doping can turn the pristine compounds into direct bandgap semiconductors and modify their optical properties. Therefore, Yb2+ doped compounds are promising for optoelectronic devices.

Summary: In this study, the electronic and thermoelectric properties of electron- and hole-doped bulk-GaN and ML-GaN crystal structures were investigated using density functional theory and Boltzmann transport equations. The results showed that ML-GaN has good thermodynamic and dynamic stability, and reducing dimensionality can enhance the electronic conductivity and reduce the thermal conductivity, thereby significantly improving the thermoelectric performance of the material.

Analysis of structural, elastic and optoelectronic properties of indium-based halide perovskites InACl3 (A = Ge, Sn, Pb) using density functional theory

Sajid Khan et al.

Summary: This study investigates the structural, electronic, and optical properties of inorganic indium-based halide perovskites with new composition InACl(3) (A = Ge, Sn, and Pb) using density functional theory (DFT). The results show that InGeCl3 has a direct bandgap nature, while InSnCl3 and InPbCl3 have indirect bandgap. InGeCl3 is considered an attractive Pb-free material for photovoltaic applications.

High-throughput computational design of halide perovskites and beyond for optoelectronics

Yuheng Li et al.

Summary: Halide perovskites have shown great promise as next-generation materials in optoelectronics, but the prototypical organic-inorganic hybrid lead halide perovskites suffer from toxicity and low stability. Recently, high-throughput computational materials design has emerged as a powerful approach to accelerate the discovery of new halide perovskite compositions or even novel compounds beyond perovskites.
